SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE - 3CD Set from La-La Land Records

So is the conventional thinking this will be:

Disc 1: Film Score

Disc 2: Film Score Continued + Alternates

Disc 3: OST Presentation (reconstructed from scratch, if the elements allowed)

We already know from Mike there won't be any source music included on the set, per Williams' request (hence its inclusion on the 2+3 set).

Cool! That is awesome. In that case, you probably answered my next question, but I just wanted to clarify this. Has Mr. Matessino met the Maestro in person?

They eat dinner together every second day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

So 3 discs and still incomplete?

PASS!

They need something for the 50th anniversary!

A reconstructed OST would be great!  But Just a remastered one would be great too! Not many of us got the japanese 16-tracks CDs. So it will be a great honor do to the original 2-LPs historical set!

If if you want complete...

Just buy the damn Superman II/III set! 😉 ...and you’ll need IV as well. 😂

No Superman set is complete without them anyway, and nor is a JW collection!

You’ll get Ken Thorne’s excellent adaption of the score for II and III as well as Courage’s adaption and JW’s new themes for IV... plus, played this way it’s probably a better listening experience as well.

Now that’s worth spending some money on!!!

Haha, yes, ok ok, but what makes it different?

It’s just that it has extra tracks compared to the OST? That are on the Blue Box (or even the Rhino?) so it’s been irrelevant since that cake out?

EDIT: Thanks @Jurassic Shark, we posted at the same time so so wrote my follow-up question before I’d read your response.

The "deal" with the Japanese OST is that the original double-LP from 1978 was ~78 minutes long, and when they put it out on CD in the USA, it was the early days of the format and most pressing plants didn't press discs longer than 75 minutes, so they dropped "Growing Up" and "Lex Luthor's Lair" and released a compromised 72 minute program in the US.  Warner Japan didn't go that route and instead included both tracks on a 78 minute CD eventually.

I wonder if Williams composed the trailer music? It could be a skilled imitator, Felix Erskine perhaps?

The chord progressions are suspiciously Williams-y though.

Superman again? While Supergirl gets one piddly expanded CD from 1994 that's long out of print and could use a good tidy up. Bloody misogynists!

Agreed on Supergirl. Seems the rights are a mess on that one (unfortunately):

I remember reading Matessino updated something on one of the Jim Bowers Superman facebook pages  that the set was ready as all approvals had been obtained and it just waiting for its turn at the plant. [Sorry cant find that link just yet]
