Which romantic movies boast the best orchestral film scores?

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend loves romantic comedies and dramas and I figured if I have to watch them with her, we might as well watch those that have great scores...

I always heard Only You by Rachel Portman had a fantastic score, although I've never seen the movie.

I like Pretty Woman from James Newton Howard and The Bodyguard from Alan Silvestri, although these scores are rather low-key.

OK, what else? Any suggestions? Of course Sabrina (1995), by John Williams, but that's a given. ;)

Some of my favorites.

My Best Friend's Wedding - James Newton Howard

Groundhog Day - George Fenton

Love Actually - Craig Armstrong

Breakfast At Tiffany's - Henry Mancini

Only You - Rachel Portman

Joe Versus The Volcano - George Delerue

Soapdish - Alan Silvestri

Four Weddings and a Funeral - Richard Rodney Bennett

Not my personal preference of film music, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I had a soft spot for that swelling type of mushy romantic music with sometimes guitars playing in the background.

I've never seen My Best Friend's Wedding but it has a beautiful JNH score.

You just own the OST?

Titanic isn't exactly a romance. It's more of an epic historical tragedy.

Titanic is a romance. Young love from two worlds. Classic romance.
