These compilations are almost always entirely directed at the general audience so the fan favourites are always bound to appear. We rarely get albums like Lights, Camera, Music! where they consciously chose to include more rarely performed fare from lesser known scores on the album. Which is a shame really.

We really could use an album with stuff like Irina's Theme from KotCS or The Lost World concert version, music from War of the Worlds, A.I. or the three pieces from Lincoln. There is such a wealth of concert suites Williams has composed since the mid-90's that I would love to hear on such a disc or discs.

Exactly, so much great material; I can't believe they haven't done this yet. They could 'easily' do one CD with the usual pieces and then another CD with all the unreleased concert versions.

I’ve no love for none of those mentioned, but it’d be a hell of a lot more interesting than this.

I keep hoping for Lights Camera Music Vol 2 where they include the Oscar-arrangement of The Book Thief and the new HS and The Princess arrangement.

Plus that heartbreaking new Hook arrangement we heard a few years back (before YouTube took the video down). I believe that's rarely been performed and only sprung up a few years ago around the time of Robin's death.

So many goodies for a future album, especially Ivanka's Theme and TLW concert version. I thought the new Spielberg album contained those arrangements from Lincoln though? There's two versions of With Malice Towards None... are there others?

And we desperately need a definitive recording of HS&TP (Revised Version). The LSO gave a splendid performance but it's tarnished by humming! Surprised it wasn't featured in this concert; it's one of Williams' best pieces in years (I guess we needed to hear Yoda's Theme for the thousandth time instead).

At least we got the Adagio...

‘Live’ still means the performances can be edited like crazy. When recording multiple concerts + rehearsals etc... and coughing noises will be edited out in most cases.

I was so surprised that Keith Lockhart album LIGHTS CAMERA MUSIC was so well done- that it easily surpassed the previous Boston Pops albums (that were studio recordings on the first place) So Id love that to happen again but not sure how this album will sound.Lets see,

Well, Lights, Camera, Music had problems with orchestral balance for the pieces recorded live.

All the pieces were recorded live.

Indeed, at two different concerts. I seems that for the pieces recorded at the 2017 concert, they didn't get the orchestral balance right in all the cues.

On selfies, Williams always looks like he's utterly fascinated by smartphones. As if he's just about to say, "Does it talk?". Note also though that he's the only one who seems to be looking *into* the camera!

Ha, what's he doing there? I know him from back when he was performing with Triology here in Austria, doing Morricone renditions for string trio... ...I even played a couple of their tracks at the radio station. ;)

Williams has expressed admiration for Adams in the past - I wonder what he thought of the concerto. Despite their key differences, the music of John Williams and that of John Adams kind of meets in the middle... not to mention their names. They are both great symphonists who don't write symphonies in name, both evoking America of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, often from similar sonic angles.

The sound is great, but aren't the trumpets making mistakes in ET, in the triads? They keep playing a major chord while it should be minor.

It's a new version! ;)

Love how they've shortened the opening of Olympic Fanfare and Theme! I've always thought it took the piece too long to get started. But the best version is anyway the one coupled with Bugler's dream as the intro.

I think Gustavo could have allowed the music to breathe a bit more here and there, especially in Jurassic Park. He can be a bit rushed.

He really let it breathe at the end of Jurassic Park I thought.  It was very weighty and really hit the breaks in a climactic way.
