Monsters Inc for film (narrowly)

Shrek for score (easily)

Newman's score is way too jazzy for my tastes, although I really like The Ride of the Doors. I think the film is the better of the two though.

Shrek was one of the scores I first discovered in 2001 and means a lot nostalgically.

Monsters Inc is my favorite score of the two. Love the jazzy, playful tone throughout.

I would say Monsters Inc is the better film, though Shrek is likely the more important movie, in the way it has influenced countless animated films since. And the memes...

Monsters Inc. is a drastically superior film to Shrek (at least pitting it against Shrek 2 may have made it a little more interesting, though Monsters should still win in that case).

On the other hand, Shrek has a fantastic score which I prefer on album, even though Monsters Inc. is lovely in the film. I think there's more stuff I like as pure music in A Bug's Life though.

I'm sorry.  I just never liked those movies, and I believe animated movies have been the worse off for following their formula.

I admit a soft spot for the score, though.

oh my the voice acting in the original versions of Shrek is so... weak. Just like english Bob Parr. If that was the only version I know, I wouldn't like these movies either
