Doesn't seem very spoilery to me? I think the point of it is to let you know the path differences without spoiling the plot.

You could be right but the first line I saw was related to plot stuff, so I didn't check anything else.

Speaking of the game, I'm stuck on the hardest Fire Emblem level I've ever played. It's like the Casino Royale scene where they bludgeon Bond's balls, that's what it feels like.

Oh, btw!  I've been catching up on podcasts since being away... what do you think of Zack Ryan returning to IGN after only 3 months of working for Ubisoft?  WTF do you think happened there?  And do you think he'll be in NVC every single week now?

Ori is a wonder. Will be a breeze after Hollow Knight but it's so goddamn gorgeous! I 100%ed it 3 times on Steam.

I’m way super behind on all podcasts except the Easy Allies so this is news to me!  They all stopped talking about Mario Maker after a week and I could not care less about any of the Nintendo games and news since then.

Yeah I wonder about that... I guess the job wasn’t what he thought it’d be.  He’ll be holding out the usual NVC host treadmill to Treehouse!

This week's NXPress podcast had it's main segment dedicated to talking about the entire Super Mario franchise!

There's been lots of Fire Emblem talk on the last few NVCs, but there was talk of some interesting indie games and stuff this week, and not a word of anything pokemon which was nice

Yea these kinds of directs, for games you know you're gonna get anyway, aren't as exciting as ones that reveal (or reveal more about) a larger amount of games

I know, which is why I'm hoping for Bayonetta 3 or Metroid Prime 4 news :) I suppose we're more likely to get something from Animal Crossing though since that's further along.

Will the next Smash DLC character be revealed in this direct?

Yea the physics are way different and I'm surprised they didn't try to make it more like the original for MM2

Well I think they had to create an engine that was sort of a balance between 1, 3, and World so that you could freely switch your level between those styles and have them play at least similarly.  You go back to the original games and all three of those are vastly different in terms of how Mario feels to control.

I will be buying this even though I already own an 8BitDo SNES style controller.  I guess it shows what an easy mark I am for Nintendo.

I'm buying them too. I bought the NES ones as well

I've gotten to the final boss of Diddy's Kong Quest many times but never actually beat it.  I think I could if I really dedicated myself, but it's so annoying I always decide getting there was good enough.

Is there a game that can produce more nostalgia?

Although for the last decade whenever I tried to play the game I always lose interest after Iggy and I don't know why. Maybe I just don't like Donut Plains.

Also, a certain friend told me: Luigi's Mansion 3 is gonna be totally worth it. He's a fan of the first one and not the second, so that was cool to hear.

Good to hear!  I’m still concerned the hotel structure is going to feel too level based, with each floor being basically self-contained.

It still really bothers me that neither Nintendo nor an indie developer has really picked up where Super Mario World left off for straightforward platforming games.  The interplay between discrete levels and the connected overworld map is the main reason why it's my favorite game of all time.  Opening up the paths of that map is still satisfying after nearly 30 years and countless play-throughs for me.  The first 3 Wario Land games sort of picked up on ideas here, and Nintendo sort of did something similar in NSMBU, but in the latter it was so systematic and lacking in imagination I ultimately would've rather they didn't dredge up those SMW associations.

At the airport yesterday I went to install the SNES games app on my switch, only to find Nintendo STILL hasn't made it so the Switch can connect to a Wifi network that requires a login screen, so I had to turn my phone into a hotspot and then download through that.  Get your shit together, Nintendo!

That being said, holy hell the SNES app is awesome.  SO MANY of the best games of all time dropping at once is amazing, and I'm excited to get to play some shit in here I've never played before - and if they keep adding new games every month, this is gonna be really special.  So happy to have this!
