Movies you really should have seen by now according to common wisdom but don't care/don't want to

You can say that again. I doubt The Godfather would have had the staying power it has if it kept the subplot of rebuilding the box of Johnny Fontaine's girlfriend.

It's amazing how much of that book was about Sonny Corleone's freakishly gigantic member

To many to name or care about.

On a side note, I saw both Godfather films when I was 13 or 14, and I couldn’t turn them off. I was totally engrossed, especially the second film.

Let us first address the title of this thread before answering so vigorously. What is common wisdom?

Depends on where you are posting. Here at JWFan, "wisdom" means action movies mixed with Fantasy, like LOTR, Star Wars and Marvel.

Not a big fan of musicals here too (at least the live action ones, lol). So, I've never seen either classic stuff like West Side Story, or the more recent ones, like Les Miserables or Greatest Showman. But I did watch La La Land, because on that time I was an Oscar buff and wanted to see if the movie was the masterpiece everyone was talking about (it was not).

There's a classic movie that I'll probably never watch, though: Pasolini's Saló. I'm not a fan of this sort of extreme cinema (though I like the French movie Martyrs), and seeing teenagers being sexually abused and literally eating shit for two hours simply isn't my cup of tea.
