Lee Thompson (THE GUNS OF NAVARONE,TARAS BULBA). Written in the midst of his most fertile filmscoring period, composer Jerry Goldsmith returns to the Far East once again with a score that contains a martial theme for Mao's China and one of his most beautiful love themes, in addition to some great vintage action writing.Previously released on compact disc in less than stellar sound, PROMETHEUS RECORDS presents a new release of THE CHAIRMAN taken from the analog stereo masters for the album, newly remastered. In addition, the music has been re-sequenced to more closely resemble film order.TRACK LISTING:1. Disco Stu 15,495
Does anyone know the story with this particular release of Jerry Goldsmith's The Chairman? It isn't listed here http://soundtrackcollector.com/title/21565/Chairman%2C+The https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mz3rIZfEssvIx4RQjhRtfNVtk37XMFm58

That's the Prometheus release with 12 tracks from 2005. This one has 15. Youtube lists the release date for this one as 2012 and it appears to have bonus tracks that don't appear on any previous release listed at Soundtrack Collector. Jay 37,346
Oh, you're asking about whatever's in that youtube link? I assumed you were asking about the Prometheus release, since you bumped a thread about the prometheus release! Yavar Moradi
Disco Stu 15,495
Sorry, I should've been clearer. This thread is about the last release that I see any documentation of on the usual soundtrack fan sites. So I thought it made sense to ask about the mystery release here. It's an official release, or at least it's provided to Google by a rights holder of some kind. But it's also not on Spotify, which is strange. Jay 37,346
That youtube link is the buysoundtrax release from 2012 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AIDMCLE

So it's actually from the very user who posted here originally. Ok, that makes sense. I guess it was a digital only release. Weird that there's nothing here about it https://buysoundtrax.myshopify.com/search?page=1&q=chairman
Jay 37,346
It's weird there's no posts about it on FSM either
Yavar Moradi 2,598
I think it might be digital only. I don’t remember a new CD edition coming out in 2012. Would be curious to know if the sound is improved further over the most recent Prometheus CD. Yavar
Jay 37,346
Did buysoundtrax release this and just completely skip over any opportunity to promote it on film score boards?
publicist 4,643
There's nothing coming up under that link. Spotify has a fishy album combining the old Fox record with new interpretations of the song:
Jay 37,346
That's the same 15 track 2012 buysoundtrax release we're talking about. Stu linked to it on youtube, and I linked to it on Amazon MP3
publicist 4,643
So there's nothing to see here.
Yavar Moradi 2,598
I think BSX did indeed fail to promote this on the boards at the time, probably because it wasn't a physical release. Again, I'd be curious if this sounds any better then the Prometheus CD. The three extra tracks are made up of two new covers BSX produced, plus the extra 51 second cue that was exclusive to the Varese Goldsmith at Fox box set, from a mono tape source (is the rest of the album also from tape now, or is it still the rip of the stereo LP?) Disco Stu 15,495
If they went as far as producing/paying for a new recording for the release, it’s even stranger that they didn’t promote it in the usual places.
Yavar Moradi 2,598
Who said anything about a new recording? If you mean the two covers, they had produced those previously and were just packaging them as bonus tracks with the original score, for the first time. Yavar Hi Yavar, I'm thinking about buying this digital release (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AIF0214/ref=dm_ws_ec_fl_dp_B00AIF0214) but I'm curious about the track order as it seems very different to the other releases. Has this been rearranged into chronological order? Thanks for any info!
Thor 7,493
I had the OST ages ago, but not anymore. Can't remember why I traded or sold it off; I remember it being quite decent.
