TheRuleOfThirds 0
Yeah, I know what you mean.Hmm...in the original post, boring is lower case, but in robbie's quote, it's capitalized. Coincidentally, I remember posting it all-caps, too (a rarity for me). stewdog1 50
In case anyone cares about Arnold's score for this, (I do), this is taken from his website message board about what he is looking at in terms of style:The style of scoring that I developed over the last 3 movies of the Brosnan era will probably be inappropriate for Casino Royale.I felt that I have taken that style as far as it can go, so its time for a change.I cant say exactly what that will be yet until I have seen the film, as the music obviously needs to work with the pictures, so I wont be giving out details as I never like talking about what I am going to do just in case I change direction later on.I am usually happy to talk about it when its done,as then we can talk about what I have done , rather than what I havent done which is so often the case when people have strong opinions on what should and shouldnt happen in a film score. After I finish a score I usually try and do something different , like writing songs, doing plays or making records.Im not very good at relaxing, I may give it a go one day as Ive heard its good for you. TheRuleOfThirds 0
Haha I hope Arnold goes in the direction of John Barry's house with the baton and the empty sheets of music and a pencil. I've come to realize I like Barry's melodic choices a lot more than Arnold's. Barry does dramatic and he does it fine. Arnold goes overboard with the dramatic when it's inappropriate. "The Sinking of the Devonshire" comes to mind. Did it really need a chorus? Barry only used it for Moonraker and that was when Bond was surrounding by Amazons in the Amazon at this beautiful pyramid palace paradise. It made sense and it was a little whimsical. Arnold tried to manipulate us with it and take the sinking seriously in a movie that had a preposterous plot (as was the scene itself). But if he wants to write a more jazzy score and stick strictly to that, I'd welcome it.Oh yeah...supposedly a 'sensitive' scene from the book is going to be in the movie. Intriguing. But we've already seen the likes of it in Spaceballs.

stewdog1 50
With X-men, Superman, MI:3, and this Bond movie, it's going to be quite a year for franchises.I know a lot of people are concerned about Casino, but I'm holding out hope that it's going to be great. I've never seen Craig before (that I know of) so I'm excited to see a new Bond and not have any knowledge of the person.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Jeffrey Wright is an unusual and interesting choice for Leiter. He's a very talented character actor, so I hope they will actually give Leiter something to do in this film. The leiter in the Flemming books is such a great character, something that has never come out in the films. There's just something alluring and sophisticated about French beauties. Also, i'm not worried about Craig after I saw Munich and Layer Cake - I think he'll be able to pull Bond off easily. robthehand 3
Empire reported some "exclusive" details of the pre-credits sequence today:http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=18246Details are emerging of the set-up of Casino Royale, the new Bond film, as filming continues in the Bahamas – and we have the scoop on a few of the details from our intrepid reporter onset, the jammy git.SPOILERS: First of all, the traditional pre-credits action sequence will show how Bond got his 00-rating, showing the (required) two kills that he carries out. We’d heard that – but the news that it is in black and white is new, as is the news that the change to colour will come at a crucial point. That whole sequence, however, is backstory, aimed at giving the film a back to basics feel. There will be no Q and no gadgets, and since it’s the first book, Bond makes mistakes and develops into the character we all know.Although the first part is wildly different to the book (there's a lot more scuba diving!), director Martin Campbell claims the film is very faithful to the book’s third act – which, as readers will know, contains some rather shocking scenes. In the meantime we can expect lots of handheld cameras and equally un-Bond lighting/camerawork.SPOILERS: The story is this: after earning his 00, Bond goes to Madagascar to spy on a terrorist. Things go wrong and Bond sets up his own mission, heading to the Bahamas where he meets a man who is involved with Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), banker to the world's terrorists. Le Chiffre (as in the book) is trying to raise money by gambling, and is taking part in a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro. Bond goes after him, accompanied by Vesper Lind (Eva Green) who has been assigned to him by M (Judi Dench, who gets a quick trip to de Bahamas). Much as in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Bond falls in love, the big girl's blouse.Everyone on board was saying the franchise had become too fantastical, so the emphasis here is on a return to stunt work, less CG and more credibility. We’ll keep you up to date on any and all Bond news between now and release.- - - - - - - -If it's appropriate for the scene (which I'm sure it will be), the black and white idea sounds v.good. robthehand 3
http://www.pulse24.com/Showbiz/Top_Story/2...11-001/page.asp The debonair ladies' man with a licence to kill is going back to the basics in the next James Bond film Casino Royale. In the 20 films featuring 007 that have been released over the last four decades, the special agent has been portrayed as a somewhat flawless and emotionally detached kind of guy, but the 21st installment starring newcomer Daniel Craig – who will be the first blond Bond – will show a kinder, gentler side of the famous English spy.In Casino Royale, Bond actually falls in love."The great thing about it is that he makes mistakes and screws up. Bond finds violence hard to take, he won't admit to that. He has to do two killings, one is very messy. He falls in love with a girl, genuinely falls in love," director Martin Campbell explained. The action sequences the James Bond franchise is so famous for will go back to the basics, which appears to be the theme for a large part of Casino Royale. There will no computer generated imagery and the stunts will be real. There won’t be as many of those nifty gadgets the super spy is so famous for – like his invisible car - or the huge action blast scenes like the ones in 2002’s Die Another Day or 1995’s Golden Eye.The creative minds behind the upcoming picture felt that technology was beginning to overshadow the plot."Even after 'GoldenEye' I remember remarking, thinking, how many control rooms, how many madmen can take over the world?" Campbell said. "Where the hell do you go with it? Do you get another madman, do you blow up another control room? How many space stations can you take?"The films based on Ian Fleming’s novels have grossed almost $4 billion since Dr. No, starring Sean Connery, was released in 1962."If you don't grow and change you die and we felt this was the right time and the right story to tell, and Daniel was the right guy to do it," co-producer Barbara Broccoli said. "So here we are."
