I was routinely checking out a used-CD store, they have a section with new releases, and what do I find? PoA soundtrack! Yay! It was in Montreal, so anybody in Canada should check out their stores, perhaps the distributor already shipped them in stores and they are racking them up. It's sweet. I don't think there's different covers this time, only the 3 black/white faces. There's a nice little text from Cuaron inside and the insert gives you a 4-panel mini-poster.

I also found in the used soundtrack section Gerhardt's Return of the Jedi (yay!) and The Hollywood Sound, which seems to be Williams conducting the LSO on Academy-Awarded scores.

I'll just wait a little longer. I mean what do you care KM? You already have it burned on a CD no doubt. :happybday:

Eh I made you wait a little. I was in a suburb of Montreal, Valleyfield to be more clear and there was only 1 in the shelves. Anyway, if it found it's way to that store, it could easily be elsewhere in Montreal. HMV, Archambault (I miss Sam the Record Man ;-( ) That store was filled with the most useless music CD's I've ever seen. You know normally, even in the soundtrack section, you'll find the same old used CD's. Often from compagnies that pressed *way* too much of their stuff, but it's not normally bad music. Often "music inspired from the movie" or stuff like Morricone tGtB&tU or Vangelis Antarctica. But wow that was really a poor selection of about every 1-hit wonder of the 80's and 90's. It was 18,99$ CAN. The sound quality is really great, compared to the AOL stream.

Did you find a hundred dollar bill in your sock drawer when you got home?

Just checked Renault Bray, whoch is close by,and it was nowhere in sight.Maybe it' wasn't supposed to be released now,and that little store didn't know or care.Or maybe it's promo copy?

And can you post the liner notes here,it's news.

I got mine from a CD exchange in Kent Ohio this afternoon. It was a rip-off at 16 bucks, but I'm really enjoying listening to it. I have dial-up so I was unable to listen to the online version. I'm glad I waited, my stereo has better speakers than my computer! I'm up to Buckbeak's Flight and I must say I'm having a wonderful time.

What's up with c.d's popping up in stores before the release date"

That store closes at midnight, maybe I should check again just in case they put one on the shelf in the last hour :happybday:

I know of a couple stores which stay open through midnight on monday nights for new releases, but it just wasnt worth it. I'm getting it tomorrow. Looking forward to reading good liner notes. By the way, does anyone have this little card saying "First Editio" that came with HPSS? I was getting my autographed cover back into the case and the thing fell out.

I'll pick it up tomorrow.

I'm still perfectly happy that I listened to the AOL broadcast. Hearing the score in CD quality will allow me to rediscover it, which I'm looking forward to very much. And I'm very glad that Cuaron wrote liner notes. This speaks a lot about the director's relationship with both the composer and the role of music in the film.

I was just wondering, ymenard, roughly what Cuaron had to say about Williams. I'm assuming that since he wrote liner notes, that he had a lot of positve things to say about Williams, but I'm just curious as to what he said. I've been wondering for a long time what their collaboration must have been like, wondering what Cuaron's feelings are on JW now that he's worked with him, which would have never happened if it wasn't through a Potter movie. Any info?

I have to wait for tomorrow (26th that is). I have not listened to it since saturday when I heard it for the first time.

Today is the day!!!!!!

That's one good thing about being a Williams fan. You can guarantee his scores will be in store the day they are released instead of having to wait or go online to find it.

You can buy it at the iTunes Music Store for $9.99 if you like. You can find it here.

From TLC

"John composed "Double Trouble" during the production of the film as we decided that a children's choir would be a warm welcome back to Hogwarts. The theme, a melodic mischievous close cousin of the "Hedwig's Theme" composed around text from Shakespeare's Macbeth, became the foundation stone for the rest of the film score. Its medieval color became the musical identity of the wizarding world in this third installment of Harry Potter.

John juggled these medieval motifs with a late 19th century rossini-esque narrative, a delirious big band Jazz number, and 20th century music (which we both share a love for). How he managed to create a unity out of it all, beats me!

It was a great privilege to witness, as the scoring sessions unfolded, music breathing life into what has become a much better film.

Gracias Maestro! - Alfonso Cuaron "

Not easy to get the CD cover signed then. There is some satisfaction in opening a CD for the first time, ripping off the annoying plastic and stickers and all that, popping it into the player, and letting it wash over you.

I totally agree, call me old-fashioned. I don't want to download music online, unless to sample something that I am not sure I want. There is an excitement about ripping open newly bought CDs, perusing album notes and movie photos while listening to a score for the first time... and a pride in seeing them sit on your shelf, beckoning you to play them.

What a day! PoA CD, ROTK DVD, and my Howard Shore/LOTR tix came in the mail. And, on a personal note, my wifes cousin gave birth to two healthy twin boys this morning. (long story short: these are her first children, and she's had numerous miscarriages, so we've all been very nervous for the last nine months)

Congratulations on everything, Maestro! And I agree with you and Diskobolus about purchasing a physical album.
