MrAsterisk 0 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Hello,I own only the first Jurassic Park soundtrack. I was wondering if I could find the attatched clip (starts at about the 7:25 mark of "Journey to the Island") somewhere else on either the first CD or elsewhere in the trilogy. I had to reduce the quality quite a bit because the maximum attatchment size was reached. Thanks!ATTACHMENT DELETED BY MODERATOR BECAUSEa) They don't work with all browsersB) The question was answeredc) Copyrighted music should never be posted here
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Nope. That is the only appearance of it in all three films.
MrAsterisk 0 Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 That's a bummer. I really enjoyed it. Thanks very much for your prompt response, though.
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 There is however a very, very similar motif in Jurassic Park III, but I'm not sure where it is on the album. It's in the scene where we see the "mercenaries" testing their weapons, and reappears several times in the film I think. To be honest, I hadn't really made the connection until you asked this.EDIT: You can download the cue off Don Davis' website (Udesky, Nash and Cooper)- Marc, who now thinks they are really very similar, and might have been mistaken first. Hmm...Sorry about the confusion. :?
MrAsterisk 0 Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 Wow! It is very similar, and I'm grateful that you made the effort to find it for me.
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 You're welcome. I didn't get the JP3 album until very recently, so I'm not as familiar with it as the other two, so that's why it took me a while to put those two together.
Luke Skywalker 2,383 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 To be honest, I hadn't really made the connection until you asked this.Neither did i, but is true!
QMM 4 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I made the connection the first time I heard it on the soundtrack
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 The clip originally posted is one of my all-time favorites and I always liked that bit of JP3. I guess now I know why.
Luke Skywalker 2,383 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 yep.Luke, who think Davis should have used the JP theme with TLW orchestration or viceversa, instead of doing minor edits.
Luke Skywalker 2,383 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I checked them, even the small fanfare in the end is the same!Maybe there is more in that score than meets the ear...
MrAsterisk 0 Posted September 5, 2005 Author Posted September 5, 2005 Indeed. And it appears again in Eye to Eye at around 3:41.
GoodMusician 66 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I... never... wow... that... huh... You can definately tell the difference between John Williams writing and Don Davis though... the accompanyment is completely dfferent... That's the one thing I don't like about how Don Davis did the music... Everytime I hear the 'family' theme, I think of how much I hated the music to Toy Soldiers--don't know who did that by the way.But... that is really interesting... that woven within it was a theme I didn't even notice that's from both of my favourite musical spots in JP... interesting... lol
Henry B 51 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I sort of have this urge to cry sentimentally when the family theme comes on in "The Hat Returns." Yet...
Luke Skywalker 2,383 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I find Jurassic park III to an acceptable work. Not in par to Williams JP and TLW but enjoyable nevertheless...
Jacck 23 Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 JP3 is a nice score, It has it's "wow" moments for me, but Williams would've done a better job...I don't think Davis felt inspired by the generally crummy film.
GoodMusician 66 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I found it interesting that ususally, the tracks not released and the ones never used in the film were the best of the Don Davis score...I don't regret that John Williams didn't do JP3 though, he did A.I. instead and I TOTALLY am not sad about that lolI think Don Davis did a good job, and could agree that it must be hard to score for a bad movie but that his score had it's John William's tendencies but not the ones needed for the movie JP.I've noticed John Williams has several sounds that he can tap into. Like how Harry Potter sounds similar to Home Alone and such... And how Hook sounds like "Goodbye Mr. Chips and to an extent sounds like "Thomas & The Kind." Then again they were all musicals, except Hook which from all I've read was going to be one.I guess my point is that he used the wrong "sound" of John Williams for JP. yea
