I know many people know who John Williams is and Hans Zimmer, but does anybody know who Tiesto is? I found out just recently because I saw that he did the remix to He's A Pirate. I found this webpage if anybody's intrested. Tiesto Home Page. How do you compare hime to Mr. Williams? How do you compare him to Mr. Zimmer? I pretty sure in saying that he is a DJ and good one. I originally thought he it was a group of people. Please comment good or bad about him. Thanks

He's a musical genius, far above John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Hans Zimmer, James Horner, James Newton Howard, Bernard Herrmann, etc.

Never heard of him and there is no comparison with John Williams.

That's like trying to compare P. Diddy with Mozart.

I imagine he must be good at what he's doing, but IMHO, there's no place for his stuff on film music soundtracks. I listened once to the first half-minute of his remix on the PotC soundtrack and that was enough of trance music for me to last me a lifetime.

God, his remix for DMC is terrible. Zimmer was wise in not using him for the third.

He made Badelt's generic music for the first Pirates sound even worse.

Blegh.

A friend of mine from uni loves this guy and even saw him in concert, so he said. I haven't been impressed by anything he's done.

So it made an already crappy album almost unlistenable :P

Ditto your second sentence.

Not to mention the 15 other composer's music who worked on the film too.

It's been about 8 years since I last went to a club. I haven't missed it at all.

I'm going to England this weekend just to go clubbing. It's the only location in the world where I can tolerate electronic music.

My ears need melodies.

I thought people said that wikipedia was unreliable on this site and not to reference it on the message board. Mr. Breathmask or Miguel Andrade please comment or any other member comment on this matter. I know he is not a pirate. The extra description was for reference to Dead Man's Chest. He did the remix to He's A Pirate. I was referring to the title of the song. It sounds like most people on this site do not like him though. Any good quality information about him Not Using Wikipedia! Please post any good reliable information here. Thanks.

Tiesto is overrated as a DJ, and his remixes are terrible. I can't stand Trance. He's not a Pirate indeed. Funky House all the way. The only dance genre I can tolerate today, probably due to it being incredibly sample heavy. Funky House = Sampled/Remixed from the 70's, 80's & 90's dance music basically.

I believe Steef was making a counterjoke to richuk's post. Also, what is it you want to know about this Tiesto guy? He's a huge name in the trance and clubbing scene. And even if u don't regard Wikipedia to be of any worthwhile quality, you might want to check out the external links at the bottom of the article.

Wipe him out.....all of him.

No one said you couldn't reference Wiki on the message board, just be careful because anyone can add info to it so it's not 100% accurate.

It says on Wiki that I'm dead. So how come I'm typing this???

Here's a comment:

You seem to have a slight problem interpreting jokes and comments not to be read as serious information on this forum.

Not my problem, though.

It'll come back to him.....eventually.

I thaught the genre was Techno? What genre is Tiesto?

But in Zimmer's defense, he never wanted to use him for DMC either.

indy4 - who likes the score to DMC

Roald probably likes him, if he isn't dead.....

Who???

Isn't he that guy that thought Zimmer would score War of the Worlds?

Do people in this forum ever go clubbing?

I do but I'm starting to get really sick of it. I had two guys pick a fight with me last night for no reason at all. Alcohol and testosterone, not a good mix.

Tiesto is the greatest artist since Illiaraja.

I'd say anyone who's written hundreds of film scores is pretty talented, even if the scores are for low grade Bollywood films.

From what I can remember, his music sounded at least decent.

Keep the joke running, Henry...no need to ruin it with logic!
