Datameister 2,586 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I definitely need to get more familiar with both scores. I definitely like the B-movie spoof main theme Elfman wrote for Mars Attacks!, but I might end up having to give the win to ID4. I'll have a much better idea once the 2-CD set arrives.
Morlock 12 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I'm going with Arnold. Aside from the opening, very little of Elfman's score grabs me.
Charlie Brigden 7 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Score, ID4, film, MARS ATTACKS! I like Tom Jones more than Will Smith.
hornist 1,261 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Mars Attacks!Very nice movie with a good score. The other one doesn't even deserve a comment.
Andy 7,730 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 ID4 for me. Mars Attacks paints a wonderfully campy soundscape that works well in the movie, but ID4 is a better standalone listen.
Quintus 6,495 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Mars Attacks is a fun movie, but I prefer the full on cheese, delicious irony and spectacular setpieces of ID4. Score-wise, they don't compare.
Wojo 2,458 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I can't vote. I've seen no more than fifteen minutes of MA and never heard the score for the score's sake. But ID4 is a great popcorn epic, and its score is amazing.
Jay 46,242 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Ooof. i can't vote. Love both scores! At least we have a nice, complete presentation of ID4. LLL's Mars Attacks is... problematic
