Jill Sandwich 11,166 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 So that other thread gave me an idea about colour association with certain movies. It's true, whenever a certain movie is brought up, I get a mental colour reaction. This doesn't happen with every movie, but some have very bold colour associations with what was chosen for the marketing campaigns, or the overall palette of the film that sticks with you forever. So just a few from me...Patton - red, white and blue.North by Northwest - light blue.Ghostbusters - blue.Ghostbusters II - green, but sometimes pink.Chamber of Secrets - green.Prisoner of Azkaban - purple, but sometimes black and white.Thunderball - greyYou Only Live Twice - orange. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - black.Diamonds Are Forever - blue.Tomorrow Never Dies - red.Die Another Day - blue.Independence Day - red.Batman - gold.Batman Returns - white.Batman Forever - green.Batman & Robin - pink.Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla '93 - grey.Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla - green.Godzilla vs. Destroyah - red.Alien - puke green.
Josh500 1,620 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Hmmmm, is this some kind of New Age thing? Anyway, I don't associate movies with any color. Maybe the posters, but not the movies.
Sandor 918 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 James Cameron movies (T2, Abyss, Avatar): definately blue as well.

Naïve Old Fart 13,021 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Blue: Blue.Which "Blue": The Derek Jarman film, or the film with Terrance Stamp?I associate it with brown.Well said!!!"Star Trek II": red,"Star Trek III: blue.
Quintus 6,495 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 The Jarman Blue, since I could only ever associate the Terrence Stamp one with yellow - being the colour of The Krypton Sun.Obviously.
Wojo 2,458 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Now we do need to know what kind of smell do you associate it with. One time, the guys on the radio posed the question that, if the technology existed to do so beyond mere scratch and sniff, or fragrances pumped into the theater, what movie they most wanted to smell. And they answered The Godfather because of all of the food presented throughout the movie. I might have to agree.
Quintus 6,495 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Oh I'm far shallower than that. I'd probably pick some girl on girl orgy flick.
Wojo 2,458 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Why not just go for Jaws then? You've got the opening scene, the glass of wine, the shark autopsy, the bucket of chum...
BurgaFlippinMan 7 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Doesn't happen to me, unless the cinematography has a very strong color signature...like:The Godfather - orange-y earth tonesThe Matrix - greenthats....about it...Oh I'm far shallower than that. I'd probably pick some girl on girl orgy flick.Lesbian Spank Inferno perhaps?
King Mark 3,975 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Last few Harry Potter movies : washed out shades of green
