elliot 0 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Hello Everyone.Does anyone know a website where we can buy the music of John Williams in Studio Quality (WAV 96Khz/24bit or higher)?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Sadly such website does not exist.
fommes 165 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 At Qobuz. I know they have one of his concertos in Studio Quality there; I don't know about anything else though.
The Dark Trilogy 40 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 What about SACD and DVD-Audio? There are a few works from John Williams in my mind issuing these formats. Examples are E.T. 20th Anniversary as SACD, the original OST album of Close Encounters and A.I. as DVD-Audio.And pseudo SACD quality are the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition from Sony, which uses DSD - the same technology as the SACD's have. But like I said "pseudo", the quality is not better than on the RCA's in 1997.You can buy those on marketplace.
Miguel Andrade 1,725 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 "Yo-Yo Ma plays music of John Williams" was released on SACD on Sony Classical back in 2002. Bis Records releases their discs as hybrid CD/SACD discs, and they have released two Williams works over this last few years: the Tuba Concerto and Escapades for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra.
King Mark 3,975 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I wonder what the TESB score in studio quality played on a 100,000$ sound system would sound like
Demondm810 473 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I wonder what the TESB score in studio quality played on a 100,000$ sound system would sound likeToo much for mere mortals to handle.
A24 5,155 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I wonder what the TESB score in studio quality played on a 100,000$ sound system would sound likePainful. You would finally hear all the meddling they did to it so it would sound crisp on your bad system.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 No not really. If you have a hybrid SACD you can play the CD layer, but not the high res audio.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Studio quality and studio masters are often mistaken for one and another. The un-tampered masters of TESB would be great to hear on a high end set.
