Jay 46,244 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Here is the amazon link:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006UTJ6DM/jwfancom-20They are also re-releasing the original OST as wellhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B006UTJ6GO/jwfancom-20
Trent B 354 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 So this is essentially the complete score?
Joe Brausam 234 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 MV said not to expect an "FSM style" release for this, and not to get our hopes up, from what he's heard.Shame, something like this could have a lot of potential.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 So The Phantom Menace gets a re-release of the ost with one useless bonus track, and titanic gets 4 CD's?
Trent B 354 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 So The Phantom Menace gets a re-release of the ost with one useless bonus track, and titanic gets 4 CD's?Ya very odd choice.
MrJosh 1,205 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 If it isn't the complete score...what are they going to fill 4 CDs with?Disc 1: OSTDisc 2: Back to TitanicDisc 3: My Heart Will Go On alternates/remixes /coversDisc 4: multimedia disc of screensavers, wallpapers and interactive "drive the Titanic" game!!!!!
tharpdevenport 4 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Sony FAIL.chocolateportals, I bet you're not far off. CD4 will probably be something like an interview with Dion, maybe Jennings (of course skipping Horner), new recording, crap. So, I take it the score to "Titanic" is one of those titles Sony won't let go of either. It did sell over 30 million copies. That's a lot of album royalties to Jamie, even at one penny each.
King Mark 3,975 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 You fucking kidding me, this and not Star Wars?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Well it did sell far better then the Prequel scores.
Incanus 5,890 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Well it did sell far better then the Prequel scores.Johnny should have written a love song for Episode I and have Celine Dion perform it.
Joe Brausam 234 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 It's most likely going to be the two commerical albums with a DVD as someone said, and a CD of filler material. Maybe some nice packaging, but that's about all I expect from it.
scallenger 665 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Was there that much missing from Titanic between the two already released albums?
Joe Brausam 234 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Was there that much missing from Titanic between the two already released albums?Quite a bit. And most of the album versions differ from the film versions, if I remember right.
tharpdevenport 4 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 There also score cut from the film, and scoring to deleted scenes. A a good chunk of alternates. 3CD's may not be enough for the full score. Probably 4, with source music rounding out the remaining minutes.
King Mark 3,975 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Sony :Lets releases a 4 c.d. deal of Titanic to see if it sellsNah , it sold crap, cancel the SW Prequels
publicist 4,650 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Sony :Lets releases a 4 c.d. deal of Titanic to see if it sellsNah , it sold crap, cancel the SW PrequelsThe eternal optimist.
Charlie Brigden 7 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Disc 1: TitanicDisc 2: Back To TitanicDisc 3: Titanic in 5.1Disc 4: The Best of Pan Pipe Moods
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Fuck sony, fuck Lucasfilm (and its owner) and fuck Williams.Period.
MrJosh 1,205 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Do you think one of the discs will include My Heart Will Go On dialogue version? I want this cue so much!LOL, and in 5.1 mix please.
ZackR 187 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 This score has sentimental/nostalgic meaning to me. I would LOVE for one of our labels (LLL/FSM/Intrada/Varese) to release something like this for Titanic. I know it's Horner and I know "My Heart Will Go On" was played to DEATH, but for me personally, I'd love a properly done release. The OST and Back to Titanic featured alternate music to what was actually in the film.Having said that, I have full confidence that Sony will completely screw this one up. They will repackage the OST plus Back to Titanic, throw in a DVD of some random crap and then a CD with the dialogue versions of My Heart Will Go On, Rose and Southampton plus the single version of My Heart Will Go On.As to why this and not Episode 1, wrongly or rightly (so wrongly!), this score has VASTLY outsold Episode I. I just wish Sony would license this property to someone else (will never happen) and that LFL/Sony would do so with all the Star Wars material. I just can't even imagine these properties getting that kind of treatment.Oh, and for the record, I am NOT saying that Titanic deserves such a release over Star Wars. Not. At. All. Just saying that if this Titanic release were done right, I would enjoy it.
MrJosh 1,205 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Hey, I agree with you. Once you get passed the overplayed pop song, I really do like the score quite a lot, and would be VERY interested in a truely complete presentation. I just don't understand the big labels. If you're going to press 4 CD sets of something, WHY NOT put some love into it? Do it right.
Xander Harris 9,676 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Maybe it'll have alternate versions without synth.
Nemesis 301 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Probabely it will be a re-issue package with some unwanted extras.
Xander Harris 9,676 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Here's what we somewhat realistically can hope for:- The Main Titles- Exploring the wreck- Jack's Irishy music- Film versions of Southampton, Flying scene, the drawing, etc.We may get some of that but probably mostly source music and alternates we'd never heard or wanted.
Richard P 5,303 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 If Sony wanted to handle this right they'd let Intrada/LLL produce a few thousand units of the complete score for the fans, then make a much cheaper repackaged set for the masses. They could achieve both and make a shitload of money if they really wanted to. But I think they've got the same wrong attitude Lucasfilm has - that everything must be aimed at the mass market.
Xander Harris 9,676 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Plus, Horner's involvement, if any. The music on there will be his choosing.
Richard P 5,303 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Agh, yeah. Horner's involvement is guaranteed to omit something.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 So...composer participation is by definition a bad thing now?
Dean1700 5 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Here is the amazon link:http://www.amazon.co...6DM/jwfancom-20They are also re-releasing the original OST as wellhttp://www.amazon.co...6GO/jwfancom-20Why would they re-release the original score and sell it at such an exorbatent price when it can still be found in bargain bins for about $5?If it IS the complete score and alternates then I for one will be dancing in the streets.
Damien F 2,079 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I really like this score (excluding the awful song) and a complete release has been near the top of my wish list for a long time. However, it is completely unfair that this gets a complete release to coincide with its 3D movie and the Star Wars prequals do not. Those scores NEED to be released, and I assumed the 3D movies would be the best opportunity so far.
Xander Harris 9,676 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Since this probably won't be complete, they all got screwed.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Indeed, if it actually is the complete complete score as intended and recorded plus alternates, this will finally be a Sony release I can buy.
indy4 160 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Guys, if they're releasing an expanded Titanic AND reissuing the OST, maybe they're doing the same for the prequels? Maybe we've only caught wind of the reissue?I'm a big fan of Horner's score to Titanic, but I'm between the OST, Back to Titanic, and Titanic: The Ultimate CD (I forget what it's called, something like that) I'm content. Here is the amazon link:http://www.amazon.co...6DM/jwfancom-20They are also re-releasing the original OST as wellhttp://www.amazon.co...6GO/jwfancom-20Why would they re-release the original score and sell it at such an exorbatent price when it can still be found in bargain bins for about $5?If it IS the complete score and alternates then I for one will be dancing in the streets. Those are imported versions. If you buy the version that is produced in your country it will probably be much cheaper.

tharpdevenport 4 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Indeed, if it actually is the complete complete score as intended and recorded plus alternates, this will finally be a Sony release I can buy.Since this probably won't be complete, they all got screwed.Probabely it will be a re-issue package with some unwanted extras.FSM post on it:Don't get too excited, guys -- from what I hear it won't be a "FSM" kind of presentation.MVSo, I wouldn't make any bets or place faith in Sony.
Wojo 2,458 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Titanic and Back to Titanic are more than enough of the movie's music for me. Too much, actually, when you try to put all tracks into a combined album, including the long suite on BTT with Hymn to the Ocean on the original album.I have zero interest in hearing film edits instead of whatever album edits that I've been used to. For as few times as I've listened to the soundtrack in recent memory, I have watched the movie beginning to end even fewer. "Film edits" are irrelevant if you disregard the movie. If I need Horner from that era, I just alternate with Apollo 13 and Braveheart tracks.
King Mark 3,975 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Titanic is one of my least favorite James Horner scores along with Braveheart (the only 2 film scores women seem to be into)In other words I don't care a bit about this release.
Jill Sandwich 11,166 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (the only 2 film scores women seem to be into)That means there's still hope.
crocodile 9,724 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 If there is something worthwhile on this set, I might buy it.Karol
Ricard 2,674 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Titanic is one of my least favorite James Horner scores along with BraveheartI agree about Braveheart. Titanic is OK.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 It's one of Horner's best scores and one of the best of the decade. Romantic, epic, adventurous. It's a pity some people with short attention spans don't take the effort to get to know it.
Ricard 2,674 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 It's one of Horner's worst scores and one of the worst of the decade. Boring, tedious, repetitive. It's a pity some people who don't know better seem so enjoy it so much.I agree.
