Charlie Brigden 7 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 is what we would be saying today if he was still alive. Still, let's not let that stop us.
chuck 155 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Happy Birthday Maestro Goldsmith!!!Here's an awesome medley of Jerry Goldsmith's scores that I've ever seen on Youtube. And here's Maestro Goldsmith in a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 1975 conducting a medley of his pre-1975 film scores. Jerry Goldsmith's Star Wars:
Incanus 5,890 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I keep forgetting that Jerry Goldsmith's birthday is only 2 days after Williams'. Happy birthday Jerry! A toast in your memory and to your music that lives on forever!
Quintus 6,495 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 What a legend. I so miss his unmistakable sound at the cinema and so I'll will remember him today with Total Recall and Poltergeist.
chuck 155 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Carol Ann's theme, beautifully played on the piano. As well as the main theme from Rudy:
Incanus 5,890 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Truly beautiful performances of some of Jerry's best material.
John Crichton 4 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 A very happy birthday to a true legend. I've actually been listening through my entire Goldsmith collection starting a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it immensely.
hornist 1,261 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Happy Birthday Jerry!Oh, I love his haunting melodies.

Johnnyecks 44 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Happy Birthday! I will always cherish getting the chance to see him in person back in 98
KK 3,313 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Happy Birthday Goldsmith! If only you were still here to grace us with your magic!
Augie 1 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 My Goldsmith theory:Perhaps Jerry Goldsmith would be still alive and well if he had quit chain-smoking?On a personal note: I'm trying to find a couple re-recordings of "Damien: Omen II".There are a lot of interesting re-interpretations out there, but they are all from theoriginal "Omen" score or from "The Final Conflict". In fact, I couldn't find one singlere-recording or live performance of any of the music from "Omen II". I sense somekind of a cover-up here.Whatever - Happy Birthday in Hell, Jerry! Considering everything what you've donefor Satan, he should be eternally grateful to you.
chuck 155 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Huh, come to think of it, John Williams also wrote a score for that Devil...
chuck 155 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Hey, the Satan doesn't have any specific particulars. As long as he could get the greatest living composer and drag him to hell...
