I kindly disagree with you on the movie. Wes Anderson movies aren't my cup of tea anyway.

He's always looked a little creepy to me. Needs to gain some weight.

From an editorial review on Amazon's page:

Grounded in the elegiac compositions of classical composer Benjamin Britten, whose majestic choral NOYES FLUDDE ignites the film's young lovers, MOONRISE KINGDOM features masterworks performed by Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic as well as popular gems performed by French chanteuse Françoise Hardy and the legendary country troubadour Hank Williams.

As in all of Anderson's previous films, music is an essential element and once again it is used to masterful effect. MOONRISE KINGDOM includes an original suite by renowned film composer Alexandre Desplat as well as percussion compositions by longtime Anderson collaborator and Devo co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh. This soundtrack promises to be one of this year's most interesting and compelling releases.

Glad to see he didn't completely abandon Mark Mothersbaugh.

Looking forward to Argo. I think the sessions are taking place this week, could be great...I hear Affleck did a heck of a job directing it.

Desplat's entire suite for Moonrise Kingdom. Really loving the whole soundtrack. Britten's music is a great new find for me.

The Desplat score suites did not do a lot for me on the whole, developing a single quirky idea over a period of about 16 minutes, the album itself a bit disjointed experience with Britten, Hank Williams et al. thrown in. I am sure it will work in the movie like hot cakes but as a listening experience not a very fluid nor satisfying one.

Didn't realize that Alexandre Desplat wrote the score for Argo, the most critically acclaimed movie of the year. I'm listening to it right now (thank you, Mr. Spotify) but it's not really my cup of tea. Don't like how he uses electronics and all. Not a big fan of wailing either.

Wordless ethnic chanting in a grieving manner is always wailing to me.

Zero Dark Thirty is probably Desplat's best score of the year, and one of my favorites of his overall. Probably one of his darkest, moodiest scores, yet still retaining that elegance underneath it all. Love it.

Cool! According to IMDb he's also composing for Angelina Jolie's Unbroken!

It's a lovely score, really enjoyed listening to it and can't wait to see it with the film.

I also found it interesting that this looks to be Wes Anderson's most score-heavy project yet. Only four tracks not written by Desplat.

David Desplat... Alexandre's long lost brother?

Good to have some Desplat lined up for 2015. I'm particularly looking forward to his Imitation Game score, probably because I expect to like the movie as well. But it's been a great year for Desplat, so I'm sure all his upcoming scores will be worth a listen.

It's been Desplat's best year by a landslide. Love Monument, Grand Budapest, and Godzilla!

Listening to The Imitation Game on Spotify. I'm really liking this on first listen. As Jay says, it's been quite a year for him. Definitely one of my favourite composers at the moment.

He doesn't have another film out this year does he?

Wow. Zimmer levels of productivity but with scores that are actually good! Colour me impressed.

I think the inspiration for Grand Budapest Hotel was the source cue in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (The Wizards Pub)
