Morlock 12 Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 What is known about this? Anyone heard any of the score? Anyone know why Stone rejected it? I'm of course happy it didn't work out, as Williams was his composer 2 pictures later, but never the less. Morlock- who's just starting to love Born on The fourth of July
governor 0 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 as far as I know, Jerry Goldmisth didn't compose any music.
Rogue_Leader 2 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 I still need that Born on the 4th of July Bootlegged edition.
Morlock 12 Posted December 31, 2003 Author Posted December 31, 2003 He's credited with having an unused score, implying that he did write sometinhg. I don't feel the need for the BOTFoJ bootleg- I don't listen to regular one that much. Just the suite is enough for me.
Rogue_Leader 2 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Hmmmmm yeah the main theme is the real draw. I hate the regular album though since it has all that pop music on it.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Ever heard of the skip button on your CD player?Stefancos- who has the OST and 2 bootleg version of BOT4OJ.
Justin 2 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 After awhile I find Williams repeats the same cue over and over in both the film and on album. I gets a little boring after a time.Justin -Who doesn't really blame Williams. The film is like a horse tranqulizer.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Shame on you Justin.
Morlock 12 Posted December 31, 2003 Author Posted December 31, 2003 It works great in the film- he always goes back to that sense of isolation.
King Mark 3,975 Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 I agree BotFJ is pretty much the same from track to track.Having the boot can permit you to select the few versions of the main theme you like the best...actually mine is only on the Boot.K.M.
Rnelson 0 Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 The story goes that Stone and Goldmith had creative differences on scoring the movie. They parted ways before any music was recorded. The theme he wrote for Wall Street was later used in The Russia House.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 Hmmm...wasn't the theme for his rejected score for Alien Nation used as the theme for A Russia House?
Morlock 12 Posted January 1, 2004 Author Posted January 1, 2004 Hmmm...wasn't the theme for his rejected score for Alien Nation used as the theme for A Russia House? Yup
Rnelson 0 Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Hmmm...wasn't the theme for his rejected score for Alien Nation used as the theme for A Russia House? YupThat's true but his score for Alien Nation was unused. It was such a nice theme that he decided that The Russia House was another good opportunity to let it be heard. Since I consider the Russia House one of the very best scores of the 90's I won't argue with his judgment. This is not unusual for composers who have scores they've worked hard on go unheard. Elements of Alex North's unused score for 2001 turned up in his score to Dragonslayer.
Morlock 12 Posted January 2, 2004 Author Posted January 2, 2004 John Barry's rejected Prince of The Tides became his beautiful Across the Sea of Time score.
