#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Just a simple poll question.Do you believe a man and a woman can had a solid, lasting but completely platonic friendship with each other?
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I believe a gay man and a lesbian woman can have a long lasting platonic relationship.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 No longer platonic if one party has sexual attraction to the other.Platonic means beyond/absence of physical desire.
Quintus 6,495 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 The only time it won't eventually lead to sexual contact is if a) there's one-sided attraction (almost certainly male > female), b) the guy has low self esteem. In which case those two variables mean the two friends will likely never become close enough to be considered 'platonic' to begin with; because there needs to be a mutual spark between a man and a woman to begin with. Yes, even for friendship. All other variables - under the right conditions - will eventually lead to sexual contact, which includes all contact from a kiss up to intercourse. It's an inevitable fact of life.
Jill Sandwich 11,166 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Most of my female friends are already married anyway.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Drax wouldMost of my female friends are already married anyway.yeah, but is it working?
hornist 1,261 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Great poll, one of the big questions I've been arguing about many times with many friends. Many times I was the underdog. But the right answer is definitely NO. Ren and BLUMENKOHL 2
hornist 1,261 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Sure. And this doesn't mean I do not adore beautiful women.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 So I am guessing your sauna's are never mixed?
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Sure. And this doesn't mean I do not adore beautiful women.Screw you. I'm sure the beautiful women adore you too. "OH LOOK AT ME. Popular Post JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 3, 2013 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2013 every woman needs a gay man friend. He will treat her like a queen, better than her husband is capable without ever wanting in her pants. Joe Brausam, crocodile and Ren 3
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 No i kept it simple and relied on the common sense of people to figure it out.every woman needs a gay man friend. He will treat her like a queen, better than her husband is capable without ever wanting in her pants. So who is your platonic lady friend?
Jill Sandwich 11,166 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Most of my female friends are already married anyway. But you would like to fuck them, wouldn't you? That'd be an affair to forget.Drax wouldMost of my female friends are already married anyway.yeah, but is it working? What do I look like, a shoulder?
hornist 1,261 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 every woman needs a gay man friend. He will treat her like a queen, better than her husband is capable without ever wanting in her pants. This is the weirdest relationship in the history of mankind, I have seen many of those. " kinda manly friend who understands me perfectly..." oh dear.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Straight men don't cling to lesbians. Once they realize they can't be "turned" its pretty much game over!
Quintus 6,495 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 An ex of mine had a gay friend, Mark (and he was GOOD looking). He was actually a really, really nice guy. Very generous, possibly the most generous young person i've ever known. He once bought her a Thomas Burberry dress (a cream coloured fitted one, very sexily cut), it was pretty expensive. I was jealous as hell and really quite annoyed, secretly! But still, there was no harm done, not really. He was just a kind fella.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 But still, there was no harm done, not really. He was just a kind fella.Of course if he were straight you would have beaten him to death with a tire iron on some Merseyside car park.....Gays do get away with a lot
gkgyver 1,647 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Maybe, but only if ... one of them is really ugly AND blind.
Henry B 51 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Yep. It's not for everyone, but it is for some.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 I discussed this matter and poll with my sister, who shares my experience and opinion on this matter.I am to tell that in her view, anyone who voted no is an asshole!
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 The only time it won't eventually lead to sexual contact is if a) there's one-sided attraction (almost certainly male > female), b) the guy has low self esteem.Or c) they aren't attracted to each other. All other variables - under the right conditions - will eventually lead to sexual contact, which includes all contact from a kiss up to intercourse. It's an inevitable fact of life. You're saying it yourself, under the right conditions. The way some of your camp have said it it's like it's the man who has to contain himself and if you pull your shlong out something will inevitably happen, regardless of what the woman thinks! Which isn't the case.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 In Blumes world the urge to have sex overrules every other instinct, morality or common sense.
Quintus 6,495 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 The way some of your camp have said it it's like it's the man who has to contain himself and if you pull your shlong out something will inevitably happen, regardless of what the woman thinks! Which isn't the case. That is actually the exact opposite of what I said. You also seem to have failed to grasp what I said in my second paragraph, where your c) is concerned. Then again perhaps you're speaking more along the lines of female acquaintances, some of whom are considered as friends.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I discussed this matter and poll with my sister, who shares my experience and opinion on this matter.I am to tell that in her view, anyone who voted no is an asshole!Sounds like you have a familial defect.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 No i kept it simple and relied on the common sense of people to figure it out.every woman needs a gay man friend. He will treat her like a queen, better than her husband is capable without ever wanting in her pants. So who is your platonic lady friend?I have many. But I have 2 or 3 very very close, one is my baby mama.
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 You also seem to have failed to grasp what I said in my second paragraph, where your c) is concerned. Then again perhaps you're speaking more along the lines of female acquaintances, some of whom are considered as friends.I reread your second paragraph. I think I grasp it perfectly. I've got a great female friend I'm not attracted to, for example.
Quintus 6,495 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 If you washed up on a desert island with her you would fuck. Unless you're not that way inclined, at all. Ahem.
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 If we ended up in a desert island we'd be alone in a dangerous situation. Normally we don't live in a desert island.
Quintus 6,495 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 "- under the right conditions -" BLUMENKOHL and Ren 2
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Quint, we're debating with young inexperienced folk who are still exploring their sexuality and relationships. Can't explain Steef though.
Quintus 6,495 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I'm always aware of that with Chaac et al, but humour the tykes we must!In all seriousness though it can be challenging to refrain from playing the age vs experience card here (on a regular basis, actually) since I honestly prefer not to patronise and condescend upon the younger members where possible, even though it probably doesn't seem that way. Brónach 1
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Agreed. But some things you just learn through a lot of experience as well as good old age.You get hit by a lot in your late 20s. Around 25 or so you start to figure a lot out.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 I'm the opposite. I had some trouble keeping my penis in check when I was younger. Now it obeys me! I am its master!
Wojo 2,458 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I had some trouble keeping my penis in check when I was younger. Now it obeys me!I am its master!Or in other words...You were in the pool, weren't you?
alicebrallice 134 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 yes, you CAN.a friend of mine's (male, and he's not gay) best friend is female. my oldest brother has several close female friends. I have male friends and I've had a solid, lasting and completely platonic friendship with one of them for about 5 years now... we don't see each other much these days (we live in different cities) but we speak at least 3-4 times a week.but it's a rare thing. most of my friends have ended up attracted to/sleeping with their male friends or the friendships have ended for different reasons. If you washed up on a desert island with her you would fuck.what does that have to do with anything? if i were on desert island with a female friend for a longer time I'm sure that would happen too.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Give it 10-15 years, and it will no longer listen to you when you say "RISE!!!!!!! I COMMAND YOU RISE!!! PLEASSSSEEE!" Control is illusory Steef!I have male friends and I've had a solid, lasting and completely platonic friendship with one of them for about 5 years now.Ask him how many times he has masturbated with you in his head. Go on.
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I would find it hilarious if a woman I like asked me that.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 If straight males cannot have female friends because of possible sexual attraction. Does this mean gay men cannot have male friends?
Brónach 1,330 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Having sexual attraction doesn't prevent female friends from being female friends.
