#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 With a desktop PC, an iPhone and an Samsung Galaxy Tablet (Android), there are now many way I view the MB.It's quite bewildering at times, actually.Desktop PCTapatalk2 for iPhoneTapatalk for iPhoneIPB Forum App for iPhoneSafari Browser for iPhoneMercury Browser for iPhoneTapatalk HD for Android TabletsTapatalk for Android TabletDolphin Browser for Android Tablet
Quintus 6,493 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 How come you use so many different browsing methods?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Still haven't found one for either my phone or tablet that I'm 100% satisfied with. The Tapatalk apps are the ones I use the most though. But since I got the new versions (Tapatalk2 and Tapatalk HD) Only this week, I still gotta get used to them. The IPB app for iPhone is pretty crummy. I can't even read my PM's with it
Quintus 6,493 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Mercury Browser is great for accessing the editing tools. It's a bloody good browser actually.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I haven't got used to actually using it.I'm surprised how much I've moved away from using a browser actually.
Quintus 6,493 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I probably ended up mastering the browser view of the forum purely because it's one of about four websites I obsessively check on rotation throughout the day. Opening an app in between to post inane crap here only slowed me down.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Four sites?I only obsessively check one.
Quintus 6,493 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Mobile web browsing is both a blessing and a curse.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Its great to have access to everything....everywhere.But its never quite as good as on a PC.
Quintus 6,493 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 The full fat browsing experience will always be best, and yet it's being abandoned all around us. People seem to prefer convenience over elegance.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Even normal websites are now being revamped with mobile browsing in mind. The Yahoo Mail website looks callow and boring if you view it on a proper screen.
Gurkensalat 385 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I find Web browsing on the iPad with Safari or Dolphin equal to PC.
Quintus 6,493 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Actual browsing on iPad blows desktop away, it ain't even close. But contributing to the web is still superior and just easier on desktop. I find posting online with an iPad decent and perfectly adequate, but the quirks of touch interfacing and its software in terms of design still need to be ironed out and innovated on before it can hope to match keyboard and mouse. The closest I can get to nippy results with editing on a handheld gadget is on an Android device. The OS has has pulled ahead of iOS in that regard for me. Simple, rudimentary tools such as copy/paste are a breeze on Android where on iOS it's still a bloody nuisance.
Jay 46,241 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 IPBoard 3.4 is out now, and is supposed to feature improved post editing capabilities, hopefully it solves a lot of long-standing complaints.Steef, you should try forcing Desktop view when on your Android tablet, I think it works great.
Quintus 6,493 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Steed, you should try forcing Desktop view when on your Android tablet, I think it works great. Why thank you, sir. Good day.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 OK I misunderstood, I thought they improved the IP board app.For the most part I'm happy with Tapatalk, despite some draw backs.
Uni 307 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 But contributing to the web is still superior and just easier on desktop.Yes. I check posts on my Android, but I never write posts unless I'm at a keyboard.- Uni
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I've been told that before, but not by you...
