Wojo 2,458 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I like to whistle Carbon Freeze through the end of the film
wanner251 18 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 As for showers... one of the tunes I sing is actually kind of an elephant in the room. Upon further examination (in the context of this thread), I just realized that it is completely inappropriate.... Funny how a thread like this one made me think about it... I don't think I could bring myself to whistle it in the shower anymore now...
hornist 1,261 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I don't whistle much... I sing/hum! in the shower, loudly! call of the champions is great for morning showers, I tell you.Why can't I believe any of this? It's a difficult piece. I need some pic/video proof of this, I tell you.
Datameister 2,586 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I've never been much of a whistler. I do hum or sing from time to time, but if I've got something really stuck in my head, the best catharsis is to play it on piano.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Yeah good idea, but use a tripod.She usually does....
Sandor 918 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Ok, ok. What I meant with 'bridge theme' from The Raiders' March is indeed the 'B-theme'....
alicebrallice 134 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Yeah good idea, but use a tripod. She usually does....
chuck 155 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Oh boy, there's some belligerent sexual tension between these two...
alicebrallice 134 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 haha! that's what he wants you to believe, chuckster. don't fall for it!
Incanus 5,890 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I have been whistling The American Process theme from Lincoln a lot lately. The themes in that score are damn hummable.
Quintus 6,496 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Leave it to my shadow to lower the tone with his depraved ellipsis. The tripod was till that point suggested for purely scientific purposes.
chuck 155 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Leave it to my shadow to lower the tone with his depraved ellipsis. The tripod was till that point suggested for purely scientific purposes.Your shadow has a thing for "scientific" purposes.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 You flatter yourself, Lee.Since no one else does, i guess you have little choice. You are my shadow, my eager and playful little puppy that goes in whatever direction i send it. Often without realising it.You even copied the whole shadow concept from me....Oh boy, there's some belligerent sexual tension between these two...Thankfully Alice is far to smart for such a thing.
Quintus 6,496 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Play fetch boy! Roll over! Give me paw! Gooooood boy little Steefy! Gooooood boy!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Nice try, but i think its pretty obvious to everyone who the big Dawg here is.No hard feelings I hope. I know you always try your best...
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 My beard.....Flattering!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I can't help it Lee is obsessed with me.
chuck 155 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 You mean you guys also have BST with each other?Man, Steef is on a roll!!!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Isnt BST a venereal disease?
chuck 155 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Isnt BST a venereal disease? And that's what you call it?
Krang 1 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 There's actually a cue from The Phantom Menace that for some reason replays in my head a couple of times a week. It's when we see Coruscant for the first time. Starting with the shot of the planet to the camera panning across the city towards Palpatines balcony. It's a rather dramatic cue but it plays more often in my head than any other John Williams piece. Though the Jurassic Park main theme is probably a close second.
Thor 9,362 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Don't laugh (OK, you can laugh), but for the last couple of weeks, I've had Williams' theme for the unaired 1965 pilot WHO GOES THERE? running through my head. I haven't been whistling it daily, but it keeps popping up in my mind, for some reason.
Thor 9,362 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Catchy is it? Linky available?I don't know about 'catchy'. It's a bit all over the place, but the main part of theme certainly is. Check out: And go to 35:20. Please disregard the silly goofball that opens and ends the video.
Naïve Old Fart 13,023 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013  I can't whistle either. You know how to whistle, don't ya? You just put yer lips together...and blow. I have whistled Slalom on Mount Humol before. Impressive, most impressive, but can you whistle the woodwind section in "The Mine Car Chase"?
wanner251 18 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I have to change mine... for the past couple of days it's been "Going to School" from Memoirs of a Geisha. Catchy as hell.
Quintus 6,496 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Catchy is it? Linky available?I don't know about 'catchy'. It's a bit all over the place, but the main part of theme certainly is. Thor 9,362 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Sorry, Lee!Another obscure Williams theme that I struggled with for a long time (and that still pops up now and then) is the one he wrote for the shortlived TV show THE TAMMY GRIMES SHOW: Jilal 1
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 When I'm drunk, I automatically start whistling Haddock's Theme.But it's not a daily thing, so I don't know if it counts. alicebrallice 1
ChrisAfonso 237 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 The most perplexingly stubborn tune stuck in my head just below consciousness level is the Midway march. Virtually every time I'm walking somewhere with a steady determined step for a significant length of time, I start whistling it and can't get it out again.
MSM 194 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Oddly enough I find myself humming Goldsmith more of lately, these days it is Main Title from The Ghost and the Darkness.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Ive been chanting the sampled african vocals from that score for a few days now...
MSM 194 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 You think they're sampled? The use of the choir is very fresh and witty.
chuck 155 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Only JG has ever used the choirs to that effect I think
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 As far as I know it was a real voice, but looped over and over again throughout the score.
chuck 155 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I wonder how JG used them in his concert arrangement. Or did he ever used them at all?
Ludwig 1,180 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Just the first four bars of the Imperial March repeating. Awesome for building up the confidence.
welshslider 2 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 The Catamaran Race from Jaws 2 is another one I whistle which then turns into the end titles to Jaws.
Jilal 681 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I never whistle. I hum stuff from all composers I've heard music of, but mainly Williams. Sorry, Lee!Another obscure Williams theme that I struggled with for a long time (and that still pops up now and then) is the one he wrote for the shortlived TV show THE TAMMY GRIMES SHOW: Ah yes, very catchy! I remember you made a thread about that one a while ago.
Hitch 60 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 The Accidental Tourist. John Williams' best ever theme.
Red 75 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 When I whistle or hum Williams it's usually the classics like stuff from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Hook.
