Uni 307 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 The musical setpieces were awesome. Now that's what Oscar night used to be like.Wow. A tie! That's something that doesn't happen that often. (Wonder what it would be like to see Johnny tie with, say, Michael Danna. . . ?)- Uni
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Then why even watch? Just for the score category?
Ollie 1,375 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Could Philip Seymor Hoffman look any more bored when the camera pans to him?
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 I thought Anne Hathaway was best actress not supportingSeth McFarlane made some pretty bad jokes about Helen Hunt in Family Guy
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 I'm not sure I like unrelated music to the movie when the winnners are announced or leave
Uni 307 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Then why even watch? That becomes more pertinent question with each passing year. . . .- Uni
Wojo 2,458 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 So then the music list would leak on the Internet and people would sync the selections to the times, and predict the winners. The Godfather is classic movie music, while people might be tired of Les Miserables music. And each year doesn't have as much iconic music as all those that came before.
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Raiders March coming back from commercialIt's like a JW compilation tonight
KK 3,313 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I really like the music choices. And the theme is music of the movies, so it all fits.
Uni 307 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 We are numbered among the rare few who have been able to name every single score excerpt featured on the show tonight. WOOT!- Uni
Jay 46,244 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Chat worked fine for me, came right up without me having to install anything. Using Chrome on Win7
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Hey, we just heard what the Harry Potter theme sounds like actually adapted by William Ross Joe Brausam 1
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Confirming there's no way he wrote a second of CoSWell, at least Selma Hayak is not giving out the best score award. She's bad luck to WilliamsJurassic Park music wanner251 1
Uni 307 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Out of Africa for the memorium suite. Very touching and appropriate.- Uni
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 I don't know most of these peopleI guess it's mostly behind the scenes guys that died this year
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Why does this composer get a post death tribute and other more notable ones didn't get one
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Man lots of great filmmakers passed this past year. Sad being reminded of them all.
KK 3,313 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 John Barry is always an appropriately favoured choice for In Memoriam.
Jay 46,244 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Faleel is in the chat room now tooDunno why anybody would have trouble getting in
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 well, how many are in the chatroom

Jay 46,244 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 The cast of Chicago is presenting Best Score nowLife of Pi wins
nightscape94 968 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 You'd figure I'd be used to this by now. Still kinda stings.
Ollie 1,375 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Wow Scarjo sounds like Adele!!!Well at least Skyfall didn't win best score.
Joe Brausam 234 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Well, Danna deserved an award. I would have liked Williams to win, but really all the nominees were strong this year (aside from Skyfall, perhaps).
Jay 46,244 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Scarlett Johnannson has an oscar nomination for best song??? How have I not heard of this before?
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
KK 3,313 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 All very expected. And Adele will take an Oscar home too.
Ollie 1,375 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Scarlett Johnannson has an oscar nomination for best song??? How have I not heard of this before?I've never heard of any of the nominated songs except for skyfall.
Uni 307 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I figured Newman would lose but Adele would win.- Uni
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 The clip they played for Life Of Pi had no lyrics. Makes total sense to be nominated for best song.
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 We gather here for the past 13 years every Oscar night .Williams has never won in the history of JWfan. And this is probably the last time it could have happened
Jay 46,244 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Adele seems kinda kookyI really want to hear this Scar-Jo song in full now, and see that movieHas anybody here heard Scar-Jo's album of Tom Waits covers? Surprisingly goodhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014IH1N6/
KK 3,313 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 No, but Joshua Bell got nominated along with her. I'd be really curious to hear how he was involved in the song.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I know of it but the thought of a delicate female voice replacing Waits' brilliant vocals is blasphemy.
King Mark 3,975 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Aren't they usually further into the show usually? It's 11.30 and were at score/screenplay?
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Random musing: anyone else notice how Kristen Stewart was limping and had a bruise on her arm and just generally looked like a crack whore?
KK 3,313 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Awesome! Tarantino getting the Oscar. That's great.
