Popular Post filmmusic 3,269 Posted March 10, 2013 Popular Post Posted March 10, 2013 this guy does various music pieces in the parallel minor/or major scale of an original piece. It sounds difficult to manipulate the original recording but anyway.here's the Godfather theme!I really hope he could do some Williams! (eg. Imperial March or something) crocodile, KK and Muad'Dib 3
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Ok that's hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing during the whole thing
Ludwig 1,180 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 That is awesome+1!Funny how this only sounds hilarious when you go from minor to major, and only certain themes as well, ones that tend to emphasize the 3rd scale degree, which makes it sound minor.I'm racking my brain to think of examples where minor melodies turn major but DON'T sound funny. Any ideas on that?
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 The Imperial March wouldn't sound particularly funny going from minor to major. It would probably sound like the "The Asteroid Field"

Any ideas on that? The only thing I can think of now (because i have it in very recent memory) is a theme from Angela's Ashes which is minor all way through the movie and in the end, it turns major (we have a statement of only its beginning). But as you said, it doesn't emphasize the 3rd scale degree, so it wouldn't turn out funny anyway..you can hear it here at 2.10 (minor version) and its major version here at 1.03:
Quintus 6,496 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 This is what Ratatouille would have sounded like had Rota done the music
tannhauser 101 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Im sure theres loads of similar examples, but I love the theme from HP:DH2, heard in Statues that gets a major treatment at the end in A New Beginning
mrbellamy 8,244 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I really hope he could do some Williams! (eg. Imperial March or something)You got your wish! Great channel. Lots of very funny changes, and occasional improvements!I'm racking my brain to think of examples where minor melodies turn major but DON'T sound funny. Any ideas on that? This YouTube user did "House of the Rising Sun" and "Californication" which both translate rather nicely to major. The rest are pretty absurd, though
Incanus 5,890 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 The Raiders March sounds surprisingly good, grim and determined.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 I'm just listening to the Raiders! WOW!!!!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 How do Zimmer's themes sound in major?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Zimmer only writes in Minor i think
KK 3,313 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Zimmer only writes in D Minor. It's why so many of his themes can sound the same sometimes
Thor 9,362 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 The GODFATHER theme sounds like a romantic drama set on sunny Corsica or something.
