filmmusic 3,270 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Ok, influenced by this great and unprecedented news about Edward Scissorhands official complete score release, i would like to ask:if you had to pick one score for a release , what would it be?Mine would be HOOK!One of my top 5 scores of all time, and one of my first listens as a soundtrack album when I was a kid..A wealth of themes and development, detailed and delicate orchestration!first runner up (because getting the rights for a Williams score would be the most difficult thing), would be Batman Returns. Elfman's masterpiece in my opinion!
ShowUStheHOOK 8 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 wow, tough choice, but if I had an option of scores given the full treatment that our friend EDWARD has received ,I would choose the following options1 HOOK........ like filmmusic, this is a masterpiece and to see it in it entirety would be a great study in film music 2 Batman ..........Danny elfman's original batman score. including un used cues. the score was a landmark in his career 3 Air Force One,...
Rachael Foley 10,162 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Return of the Jedi, or The Phantom Menace

(but since we even couldn't get a complete cd release with all the alternates and unused stuff, imagine how hard it would be. )
ShowUStheHOOK 8 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 true. sadly, I imagine the unused stuff is lost. Studios are notorious for not handling scores carefully. For that matter tons of really good silent films have been destroyed for monetary purposes.
Score 775 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I am still shocked by the news, however I have no doubts: I would pick "Star Wars: A New Hope", without any hesitation. I have been hoping to get this score since I was a kid and I was just starting to study music. Entering a music shop and buying the complete engraved score of "Star Wars" is one of my recurring dreams. Then, all the others. Surely "Hook" and "Empire Strikes Back" would be terrific. And what about "Prisoner of Azkaban"?Maybe a new era in sheet music is about to start?
filmmusic 3,270 Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Maybe a new era in sheet music is about to start?I hope so!i wonder how much copies it must sell so that it will be considered a success and others can follow.
Datameister 2,586 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Star Wars here, too. The score that started it all for me. Jilal 1
Nemesis 301 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Mine would also be Hook. As a teenager I had a dream that I bought the complete engraved score, would be cool if it come true!
Sharkissimo 1,978 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 RETURN OF THE JEDI, CLOSE ENOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND or NIXON, in that order. From ANY composer? Definitely Alex North's SPARTACUS.
tannhauser 101 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Fellowship of the ring. Well, any or all of LOTR.

I'm crossing my fingers. Surely if they allowed to sell this also out of U.S. and Canada, that would help!By the way, another score that would be terrific to have in engraved form is "Adventures of Robin Hood", by Korngold. Another one that I would enjoy is "The Matrix" - this last one may not be too difficult to produce, I guess, since it has been played live to projection. Actually, this would apply to all of the scores which have been played live in the last years... is it so difficult to get them published and available to the public??
Mythos 0 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Full partituras/scores as a book, on real paper, are amazing! OR a downloadable pdf for half the price, available worldwide, would be nice to have it for educational purpose. My wishlist? Well at least everything by Korngold and Williams. And Goldsmiths "Star Trek - The Motion Picture" and Horners "Wrath of Khan".
