Quintus 6,495 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Your limitless charm will take you far with women, gkgyver.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Is this supposed to be like this where you can't see anything?
A24 5,156 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Are you complaining about the transmission images not being crystal clear?
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Is this something that's supposed to get you excited for the film? If so, it's not working!
A24 5,156 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I rather like that Zod is sending the world a message, a warning of his coming.
Wojo 2,458 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 that picture doesn't look like her at all. That's because that picture isn't showing her face.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Is this something that's supposed to get you excited for the film? If so, it's not working! I agree.
A24 5,156 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 You have to image that you are watching TV and that your program is interrupted by this message. Viral video: It's a new way of advertising. Don't worry, we'll see normal trailers too.
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Viral video: It's a new way of advertising.I think we're all well aware this is supposed to be a viral video. But that's a poor one, that's the thing. Quintus 1

Quintus 6,495 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Just watched the promo, it was crap.American accents really aren't as good as villainous English ones. The voice of Zod here lacked mockery and threat, it just sounded like some guy from a Tom Clancy kidnap movie. Definitely a failed experiment in generating buzz.
A24 5,156 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The more I think about it, the better I like it. It connects perfectly with the alien visitor philosophy Nolan has been talking about and it's another confirmation that that they are not going for a childish Marvel movie. Perhaps adding a bit of the Kryptonian language would've been even better. The Englishman as a villain is a cliché.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Personally, I'd have a linguist develop some cool Kryptonian language.
Quintus 6,495 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The Englishman as a villain is a cliché. One the biggest, but also one of the most reliable. This just sounded like some guy. Ineffective as far as the promotion's intent goes, but I'm sure the character as seen in the film will be a more effective manifestation.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The Evil BritI wonder why does this happen. I'm usually not overly conscious of this (I'm bad at identifying accents in English).
Quintus 6,495 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 It's just an old corny convention which is as tired as they come, but in a movie about superheros, or good vs evil stories per se, it's still a surprisingly potent cliché to exercise. Cliché is not inherently a bad thing, remember.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I know, it's just a tool. Maybe it's just the linguistic prestige of an upper class British accent that makes it work.*In things like, say, The Avengers, maybe it might make sense in the collective mind because Loki and Thor are loosely inspired in European traditions. While Zod is just like another made up character. Probably in many productions in the USA they want the villain to sound "foreign" but still speak English so they stick with the Brits lol( * That's another surprising thing, here we don't normally associate accents with economic class.)
crocodile 9,724 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Some more new pictures.Cavill really looks the part.Karol
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Hmmmm...Supes with a stubble. how does he shave?
crocodile 9,724 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I remember him using Eradicator for this very purpose.Karol
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Personally, I'd have a linguist develop some cool Kryptonian language.that would be monumentally stupid
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 It's a known fact that all aliens speak English with an accent of the US.
MSM 194 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Some more new pictures.Cavill really looks the part.KarolHe still looks abit like a high school kid dressed up as Supes. Anyway, the colors start to look brighter, and Amy Adams looks very good
Quintus 6,495 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 High school kid? I think he looks older than I do.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 High school kid? I think he looks older than I do.Nope! You look your age.
Quintus 6,495 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 My point was that High School is but a cute memory to men of our age.
Ollie 1,375 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Wasn't too impressed with the General Zod TV spot.Next trailer.
Maurizio 6,913 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Is the music in the background Zimmer doing Zuperman?
Delorean90 47 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 It's possible. Sounds like it could be the drum circle thing he was talking about. If so, I'm semi-relieved--it's certainly not the standard wall-of-sound percussion we've come to expect, so that helps. There are times in the trailer where I can just let it go and let it be its own thing, but there are others where it feels a bit undercooked. We'll see (IF it's Zimmer). The trailer itself, though? Oh, yeah. Looking good, I think. Looking quite good. I'm ready for this.
Ollie 1,375 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 A slight tip of the hat to the Donner film in a few scenes perhaps?
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 A slight tip of the hat to the Donner film in a few scenes perhaps?my thoughts exactly.
KK 3,313 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 If that is Zimmer's fabled drum circle, this score might just be interesting. The film looks good, but some of the CGI looks weird. The opening battle sequence looks a bit video-gameish
KK 3,313 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Sounds too much like trailer music though. But hey, it sounds more interesting than a lot of the drivel Zimmer's created in the last few years.
Matt C 605 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Trailer's very exciting. The score, and it sounds like Zimmer's original score for the film, just doesn't sound that interesting.
Wojo 2,458 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 it's a trailer that excites me.Ditto. Ditto ditto ditto. I've even got a Superman t-shirt set aside, just waiting to go see this on the big screen.
Red 75 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I like the trailer but didn't care very much for the music.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Holy shit just let me see this film already!!!
