crocodile 9,724 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Can't wait to spoil them all for you! Karol
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Why are all these big movies opening overseas before here lately?Espeicially Star Trek which is a uniquely American product.Because Hollywood likes to think on global terms these days. But if you do, what I don't get is the disparity of dates, in one sense or the other.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Zach Braff is using Kickstarter to fund his follow-up to Garden State. The video is hilarious.
Jay 46,242 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Haven't been able to watch the video yet, but the page itself is full of funny. I hope it gets made
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I pledged $40. Would like the $200 option that gets your name in the movie on a graffiti wall, but considering he can't guarantee it's legibility in the final cut I'm not risking it.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 The only thing I liked about that Thor trailer (explosions, drums, explosions, drums, explosions) is Hopkins' voice.I like the cinematography and how they put the Marvel logo in Thor's cape. Hopkins' voice is cool, but then again the cast isn't the problem.
A24 5,156 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Really? I find the cinematography of the Marvel movies professional but not very expressive, artistic or striking. It's a bit too common or unexceptional. 'Cinematography' is not what these movies are about, nor will they be analyzed for it. And talking about the cast, the actor who plays Thor lacks charisma. Not that it's bad or unwatchable, but again, it isn't remarkable in any way. Bland and standard fare are the best terms to describe Marvel, IMO.Alex

It's a bit too common or unexceptional.I didn't say it had weird cinematography, I said I liked it.And talking about the cast, the actor who plays Thor lacks charisma.Charisma is subjective. I liked him very much in the first very failed Thor film, particularly in the first part of the film.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Why are all these big movies opening overseas before here lately?Espeicially Star Trek which is a uniquely American product.Nonsense!Really? I find the cinematography of the Marvel movies professional but not very expressive, artistic or striking. It's a bit too common or unexceptional. AlexJust look at The Dark Knight Rises versus The Avengers
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Nonsense indeed, to you. I don't recall NBC having a world wide audience in 1966.
Wojo 2,458 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Roddenberry was American, though his first captain was Canadian. Advantage: Joey.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Jeffery Hunter was American, Pike From Mohave, CA, Shatner is a naturalized American. Star Fleet is in San Francisco and Kirk is from Iowa.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Its called the United Federation Of Planets!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 admit defeat like a man who's eating vegatarian balls.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 And they got owned by Benedict Cumberbatch! Hah!
Jay 46,242 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Studio Ghibli's first live action film:http://io9.com/first-live-action-monster-movie-movie-from-the-minds-of-480229723

Brónach 1,330 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I might just go and see Iron Man 3 tomorrow.
alicebrallice 134 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I might just go and see Iron Man 3 tomorrow.do it! it's a fun ride.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Really? Better then the second film or Thor?
alicebrallice 134 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 it's not hard to be better than iron man 2. that one was shit. I thought it was as good as the first one, if not better. I enjoyed it a lot more than thor, and I actually prefer thor to avengers.I mean, they're all quite forgettable but it's definitely worth seeing. especially in the cinema.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 All i remember from Iron Man 2 is Mickey Rourke mumbling enigmatically and Scarlett in a black catsuit.
crocodile 9,724 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Really? Better then the second film or Thor?Yup. Better than the first even.Karol
A24 5,156 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Really? Better then the second film or Thor?Yup. Better than the first even.Is it more Nolanesque then?
crocodile 9,724 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 No. It's the most lighthearted Marvel film, actually.Karol
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 What do you remember from Iron Man 1? Downey Jr. finally coming into his own.
Quintus 6,495 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Apparently it succeeds in the same way The Avengers did. Which probably means it'll be a blast on the big screen, but not really something I'm gonna wanna own on Blu.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 For some reason I find The Avengers an average, but hugely enjoyable film, that i've seen 5 times now. I keep coming back to it, like one comes back to McDonalds.

Which probably means it'll be a blast on the big screen, but not really something I'm gonna wanna own on Blu.Yes, pretty much. It is a slightly different film, though. I'd say it has a slightly bit more personality. For some reason I find The Avengers an average, but hugely enjoyable film, that i've seen 5 times now. I keep coming back to it, like one comes back to McDonalds.Yes.Don't get me wrong Iron Man 3 is not a masterpiece of cinema and I probably won't be rewatching it a whole lot. But I had a blast last night. Which is something that wasn't expected from the trailers. Even the score is better than the first two. Not something I want to own, but a sure improvement.Karol
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 So Marvel its slowly creeping it's way towards a better class of mediocrity?
alicebrallice 134 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Don't get me wrong Iron Man 3 is not a masterpiece of cinema and I probably won't be rewatching it a whole lot. But I had a blast last night.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I saw The Avengers three times and I had a blast every times so this one is a sure visit to the cinema.Plus after I reworked my list of visits to the cinema I felt I was missing action and lightheartedness.
Quintus 6,495 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 I'll see Iron Man and want to see it. The second one was rubbish, but the original did show promise for a new superhero franchise, and just because that suit is easily the most badass out of the lot. It looks awesome in motion, coupled with the ridiculously cool sound design. That stuff appeals to my inner tree climber.
A24 5,156 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 What do you remember from Iron Man 1? Downey Jr. finally coming into his own.It certainly has put him back on the map ...
A24 5,156 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Luc Besson is, according to Hollywood Reporter, writing/directing Lucy, a new science fiction tale starring Scarlett Johansson. Jay 1
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Besson sci-fi, with hopefully a Serra score? Sold.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 It's about Johansson getting superpowers due to a drug.
Wojo 2,458 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 That's not a good message to give to youth. Take a drug and get super powers. Radiation, being extremely wealthy, already being alien, magic rings, and mutant bug bites are pretty hard to pull off. Don't drink and drive, kids. Toke and fly.
A24 5,156 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Maybe she gets superpowers at first only to find out that it kills her. It could be one of them message movies. Of course, if the movie ends with Scarlet being on top of the world and perfectly happy due to the drugs, then it's not a message movie, but I don't think that will be the case.
Jay 46,242 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Luc Besson is, according to Hollywood Reporter, writing/directing Lucy, a new science fiction tale starring Scarlett Johansson.AWESOME
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 It seems made for all those that complained about how emo and devoid of colours Man of Steel looks.Awesome tagline, by the way.
Incanus 5,890 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 One of the characters, the japping nerd, looks and talks like J.J. Abrahams! Visually this looks quite something, like anime movies brought to live action format (with CGI of course).
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Looks like Ironman only really big. It looks like fun trash.
