Matt C 605 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Seems like a project to follow, IMO. Cate Blanchett is playing the wicked stepmother, Lily James is playing Cinderella, and now Richard Madden has been cast as the Prince. This should be a good project for Patrick Doyle to sink his teeth into... probably a score with Nanny McPhee influences with a dash of Much Ado About Nothing.Disney hasn't set a release date, but since filming will start this fall... maybe a fall/holiday 2014 release?
publicist 4,650 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Or James Horner in full fantasy/BRAVEHEART mode.
Quintus 6,496 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Hmm, interest piqued. Depends on the style. Or James Horner in full fantasy/BRAVEHEART mode. I'll take three of those.
Once 1,083 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 They had a hard time casting Cinderella, even Emma Watson passed on it. And she usually chooses her projects based on the director. That makes me think the story must be pretty shitty.
Quintus 6,496 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 According to Google images she's in the porn biz now.
Once 1,083 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Nah, that's probably pictures from Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring". She's also in Seth Rogen's "This Is the End" and Darren Aronofsky's "Noah".
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Whats' with the speculation? Patrick Doyle will score this! Once 1
Wojo 2,458 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 No singing mice this time? Ain't nobody got time for that!
Matt C 605 Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Nah, that's probably pictures from Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring". She's also in Seth Rogen's "This Is the End" and Darren Aronofsky's "Noah".Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Watson's taste -- even if it is a comedy. More likely Watson passed on Cinderella is because it's another magical character and she doesn't want to be typecast as such.I'm in for Blanchett and Madden, personally.
Once 1,083 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Imogen Poots, Saoirse Ronan, Bella Heathcote, Margot Robbie and Gabriella Wilde passed on the role as well. They had a hard time casting the main character.I don't think the reason is typecasting - I think she double checked with Guillermo del Toro if they were still going to make Beauty and the Beast, and chose that over Cinderella.
Thor 9,362 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Whats' with the speculation? Patrick Doyle will score this!Exactly. If it's Branagh, it's always Doyle. Once 1
Matt C 605 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Disney will release the film on March 13, 2015. Guess fall/winter 2014 was too booked up.Also, Helena Bonham Carter will be playing the Fairy Godmother.http://collider.com/helena-bonham-carter-cinderella-danny-huston-big-eyes/
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 From Henry V to Thor to Cinderella?
publicist 4,650 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 You forgot FRANKENSTEIN. Never say Branagh's not eclectic. At least this one will not have MARVEL bulldozed over all reels.
Matt C 605 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 It should be eclectic enough with Helena Bonham Carter playing a fairy godmother instead of an evil, depressed, or Goth-influenced character for once.Though if she sings that "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" song, I will die laughing.
Marian Schedenig 11,694 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Sounds interesting. And there's much I admire in Branagh's Frankenstein.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I hope this doesn't have a RCM style of music but a score analogous of Frankenstein and such..
publicist 4,650 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 RCPThankfully this seems to roam outside the usual tentpole tentacles.

scallenger 665 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Teaser trailer released. Doesn't show much but WHAT is that gorgeous music piece? Is this a hint of the score by Doyle?
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 If it is, then 2014 is definitely going to be a great year for film music.
scallenger 665 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I didn't even know that Doyle was going to score Cinderella, and when I saw this trailer I thought the music in the very beginning of it sounded like something he would have done for his Goblet of Fire score or something.
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Except that Cinderella comes out in 2015...Know-it-all!
Jay 46,244 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Well, it does say so in the title of the thread, and the end of the teaser video....
Marian Schedenig 11,694 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I didn't even know that Doyle was going to score Cinderella It's Branagh, who else would score it?
Drawgoon 130 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 It's Branagh, who else would score it?That is if Doyle is not available for whatever reason? James Newton Howard may give it a shot. He scored Snow White the other year, Maleficent this year, and he is seemingly attached to the Alice in Wonderland sequel too.
nightscape94 968 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 So he's the Hans Zimmer of fairy tale movies?
Matt C 605 Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 I have a feeling I've heard that piece of music before, but it could be that Doyle scored the trailer. It sounds very magical and whimsical.
KK 3,313 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 It sounds like something JNH would write actually. But I think it is original Doyle music.
King Mark 3,975 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 All those fairy tail movies sucked so farAlice in Wonderlands suckedSnow White and the Huntsman suckedHansel and Gretel suckedMaleficient is gonna suckAnd cinderella will suck too
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters?People had high expectations for that?
nightscape94 968 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 The two screenplay writers don't exactly instill in me a feeling of confidence.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Hansel and Gretal was a blast. It was an over the top monster movie completely tongue in cheek. It was savaged by critic and movie fans who have died inside. Famke J. is so beautiful in the film. Don't you agree Stefancos. She's freaking gorgeous.
Jay 46,244 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 A poster on FSM says that the music in this teaser is actually from James Newton Howard's Nanny McPhee Returns score.
KK 3,313 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 It sounds like something JNH would write actually.Haha!
