Seriously? If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Posted

It is not a fix. It's a bleedin' reboot, that's what it is!

Posted

WOW! they could have kept the other one and change the 0 to 1!

oh, and just another evidence too that film music has gone downhill, and none is interested in music anymore..

Posted

Yeah, but apparently this new logo won't appear in front of films. Not yet anyway.

Haven't you heard? Fanfares are out of fashion.

Makes it look like a film noir. Or a cheap flash interactive game from Y8.com

13 years too late, they come up with the cheapest, saddest, dullest logo ever? It's a bit late for April 1st, people! ROTFLMAO

At least when Universal did their new logo, they made it look pretty darn good.

Well, at least we all know which studio has more money!!!

“Today I am proud to unveil our new logo, which serves as a powerful symbol of the inspiration and high bar set by our company. Like our name, the logo reflects the rich creative heritage of Twentieth Century Fox and signals the promise of the 21st century and our restless drive toward the future.

“Ultimately, our new logo celebrates the powerful commitment of you and your colleagues to the excellence and innovation that will propel 21st Century Fox forward.”
Really...?

And are they officially renaming the entire company?

Total corporate BS, as usual.

And the new logo is too minimalist - and what's with the stupid digital beeps at the end? The pedestal and searchligts are Fox.

wtf is this...

Wow.

The funny thing is, just the other day, I was just thinking about how when I was little, I thought 20th Century Fox would have to be renamed 21st Century Fox once 2000 hit. I couldn't have come up with that new logo in my worst nightmares, though.

I wonder what that corporate presentation meeting sounded like (I can't help but picture Brian Regan's voice doing this):

"We've got serious issues with our logo, people. It's just too dang epic. The music's too stately and noble. It's too recognizable. The entire image, unfortunately, just reflects the tradition and and legacy of some of the greatest films of the first century of cinema. It's like an anchor around our neck, folks. We've got to find a better way to marginalize ourselves.

"What we need is something new. Something they aren't expecting. Something smaller, more compact. Something you see and immediately forget. Something you can tweet. Something that beeps, fercryinoutloud."

Simply unbelievable.

I think it is mainly the kind of thinking that resulted in that logo that concerns people.

I mean: What WERE they thinking?!? Other than what Uni just said.

Actually, those "lights" do kind-of look like an "X". Perhaps they secretly want to rename their company to TENTH Century Fox. :biglaugh:

It's a freaking logo, get over it.

You know...there's a reason the Fox fanfare is included on the Star Wars albums even though it's just a logo.

"Nobody's perfect... almost nobody."

21st Century Fox will be the legal successor to the current News Corporation, from which a new News Corporation will be spun off.

The 21st Century Fox brand will not extend to the existing 20th Century Fox division, which will remain under its current name.

I liked that music as much as the next person but the Star Wars score doesn't start start with it.

What an abomination!

Two horrifying facts: someone came up with the horrible thing (visuals & sounds) and someone (many) approved of it.

Amateur filmmakers have more beautiful and memorable logos; seriously.

I, too, often thought the 'twentieth" would probably be changed someway, but they ought to have kept the logo classical, and have had some real music to score it.

It looks more like a logo for the X-Files than for the studio.

Those are the same guys who make the stupidest decisions possible when producing movies: produce this and reject that, force changes, ..., despite knowing nothing about, nor caring at all for, cinema.

:(

The new logo looks like it came from some indie company that's a cheap knock-off of Fox; kind of like something you'd see from The Asylum or something.

Posted

That's awful. How in the world could they think THAT was an improvement?

It's a freaking logo, get over it.

Movies get made or not because of logos. If it wasn't for the classic 20th Century Fox logo, Emmerich wouldn't have made ID4 with this studio.

I actually like it. It references the past, but has a sleek, modernistic look to it.

It reminds you of your youth in the 70-ies, probably.

The film studio hasn't been rebranded as 21st Century Fox, the parent company has. They're keeping the same name, logo and fanfare for the film studio.

When You Wish Upon a Star will open Episode 7.

I suspect we'll end up with a quick, silent Disney logo, not the full CG flyaround with lush orchestral score.

At least now we can reassure ourselves that we never would have gotten the Fox fanfare with that film in the first place...

So sad... there have been PLENTY of Fox films I have seen where the opening logo fanfare was actually the best part of the film! LOL. Now, for future films... either the film sucks entirely or it doesn't. ;) Shame.

Watch... the next release of the Star Wars films on BluRay will remove the original logo fanfare and replace it with this, too! LOL.

I think the most likely scenario for Episode VII is that the film will open with the Lucasfilm logo rather than any of Disney's logos (whether it's the castle or Touchstone Pictures label). Disney has not put their logo on any of their Marvel Studios films, as they own the brand (same with Lucasfilm). What is likely the only indication of Disney's ownership will be the end credit disclaimer: "Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures."

But I wouldn't be surprised if Disney licenses the Fox fanfare to use in Episode VII.

Nor would I, precisely because Disney doesn't play silly games with logos. They know how to market films, and they're much less interested in branding than they are making sure things get done right.

Actually, that probably makes more sense.
