Naïve Old Fart 13,021 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Just a thought, but...doesn't JW ever get bored conducting his own music, all the time?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Let's face it. You are bringing an entourage!
Jay 46,243 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Well what I propose is that I find two different restaurants, one for Friday and one for Saturday, that are both near symphony hall, able to accommodate large parties, and have a wide enough menu that people of different tastes will be able to find something they like.I just need to know how many people are interesting in going to each day to plan properly! Here's my initial stab at it based on the last page or so of discussion. Please let me know of any corrections!FridayJason and MarcyRen and DanStefancosTOTAL - 5 SaturdayJason and MarcyStefancosjosefsuma and LaëtitiaJoe Brausam & 2 guestsTOTAL - 8 Not sure if coming to dinner or not - or which day - or how many guests they haveFoxfanJWFangirl1992dfenton85Smeltingtonrpveeobiwan71
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 So I am the only one coming alone on both dinners?Shit, I gotta find me a date!

I am asking because I would like to wait for John after the show for some signatures
Jay 46,243 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 BEFORE the shows. I of course will be outside waiting for signatures as well after the shows!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Just out of interest, are Boston restaurants pricey? I need to start calculating a budget of sorts.
obiwan71 26 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 To be honest, I wasn't especially shocked by restaurant prices when I visited last year. I think you'll have a wide range of options like in other big cities. As for the gathering, I'm in for the Saturday meetup. I'll be arriving in Boston at 12:45 PM that day. No one else is coming.
Damien F 2,079 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I'll be going to the Saturday concert and would love to meet up for dinner. I'll be arriving to Boston on Thursday evening so I'll be available for dinner on either the Friday or Saturday. No guests.

Damien F 2,079 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Jason, I'll go to the Friday dinner only, thanks.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Question for our New Englanders, apart from the concerts, what else there to do or see in Boston?
Jay 46,243 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Walking around Faneuil Hall / Quincy Market is always nice, always something different to see, plus a wide variety of different shops. If you could go to the North End for dinner and/or dessert that's where the best food is at (assuming you like Italian)If you want to see the city, you can take a Duck Tour
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 LOL I actually know what a Duck is!
Jay 46,243 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Haha sorry, it's not a tour of ducks, its a tour of the city in these buses that go in the waterhttp://www.bostonducktours.com/
Ren 77 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Getting excited. Going to book the hotel tonight. Any recommendations?
rpvee 1,095 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I'll be going to the Tuesday show, so I think I'll be missing you guys.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I'll be sleeping back home then.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 As Mod you should organize a JWFAN dinner on Tuesday for rpvee too!Just drive to Boston once more and buy him a burger!
Jay 46,243 Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Anywhere in the city will be expensive... You can use priceline to try to find a deal. Since I live so close I've never actually stayed in a Boston hotel so I don't really have any experience. Will you be driving down? Joe Brausam found a good hotel in Waltham, he posted about it on one of the previous pages.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 At a JWfan dinner, do people split the bill, or do we go.....Dutch?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Urgh serves me right for trying to compose a question minutes after waking up.Doesn't answer the question though....That is the definition of Dutch. You and I have very different definitions of what "going Dutch" is! At the dinner you can pass the Dutchie and maybe have some Dutch treat.....if you play your cards right!
Ollie 1,375 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 So I am the only one coming alone on both dinners?Shit, I gotta find me a date! If I could, I'd come up for you Steef.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Only if you bring the wife!
Ren 77 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 I just booked the Revere -looks super great - one of the "cheaper" ones.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 In the same street as my Hostel! What did Captain Kirk say again in Star Trek 6?"I've never been this close."
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Jason, any progress on the restaurant front?
Jay 46,243 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Here is the latest update to who I know is going to dinner whenFridayJason and MarcyStefancosdfenton85Ren and DanTOTAL - 6 SaturdayJason and MarcyStefancosdfenton85josefsuma and LaëtitiaJoe Brausam & 2 guestsobiwan71TOTAL - 10 Going to Tuesday show onlyrpveeNot sure if coming to dinner or not - or which day - or how many guests they haveFoxfanJWFangirl1992Smeltington Does anyone have any further updates for me?~~~For Friday dinner I suggest the six of us go to The Pour Househttp://www.pourhouseboston.com/ 907 Boylston Street #21Boston, MA 02115It's about a 15 minute walk from it to Symphony HallFor the big Saturday dinner, I suggest Uno Chicago Grill, which is right next to Symphony Hall.http://www.unos.com/280 Huntington Ave Boston, MA 02115 It's not a fabulous restaurant by any stretch of the imagination, but it has a large menu that anyone can find something to eat on, and they they accommodate large parties very nicely - we'll have our own side room and they will give each person/couple/group separate checks. Plus it is literally right across the street from Symphony Hall.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Both restaurants look fine. Both serve Cider. Its important....I hope JWfangirl92 shows up, so i can hear her story about running after JW's car after a concert!
