Sandor 918 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 This has just become my favorite John Williams picture..! Darth Mulder and Bespin Copilot 2
Damien F 2,079 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 That is an awesome picture.I never really liked the picture of him on the main JWFAN banner though - he looks a little pissed off there. I much prefer the picture of him in the same pose but he's smiling.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Well, it's not really a picture but a painting, but I think my favourite is this which is featured in the Spielberg/Williams collaboration cd:He seems such a warm person, like a storyteller or like the grandpa we would like to have.
MSM 194 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I especially like photos from his office at home:this is hanging above my desk:I wish I knew which scores he was working on in those pics.
Incanus 5,890 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Those are excellent photos. The one with Maestro and Spileberg is a great one. I love the raptor behind the grand piano. A nice touch.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 this is hanging above my desk:I wish I knew which scores he was working on in those pics.oh, this is great!!Is it anywhere in large size high quality?

MSM 194 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 this is hanging above my desk:I wish I knew which scores he was working on in those pics.oh, this is great!!Is it anywhere in large size high quality? This is from the photographers website, so it is the best quality available. Shall I write to them and ask if HD quality versions are for sale for this photoshoot?
APBez 11 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Whilst I can't add any photos to this thread, I must say I look forward to seeing what others are able to post. Great thread.
MSM 194 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 this is hanging above my desk:I wish I knew which scores he was working on in those pics.oh, this is great!!Is it anywhere in large size high quality?I Asked Art Streiber for a quotation regarding a print. They sent me a listing, the cheapest option is: "8X10 unframed $800".I think I'll keep it at my low res print...

MSM 194 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 My thought as well..."30x40 unframed $2,400"Apparantly the photographer will sign the photo.
Sharkissimo 1,978 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 My avatar. Looks like Williams is about to be arrested for lewd conduct in an adult movie theatre.
Thor 9,362 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 My thought as well..."30x40 unframed $2,400"Apparantly the photographer will sign the photo. For that price, I would at least expect a signature from Spielberg, Williams, the Pope and Obama. Maybe Jesus too.

Popular Post BloodBoal 8,711 Posted October 13, 2015 Popular Post Posted October 13, 2015 Great picture of John Williams and family having dinner at the Brown Derby in 1950-something. pic.twitter.com/VHgorH7iut— Doug Adams (@DougAdamsMusic) 2 Octobre 2015 Thor, Darth Mulder, Incanus and 3 others 6
nightscape94 968 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 My first thought as well! Indeed.What a sarcastic asshole!

Thanks for sharing. Based on the age of the children, this must be later than the 1950s. I'm guessing 1963 or thereabouts. John is obviously at the right, then I'm guessing Mark (some 5 years old), followed by Barbara Ruick with Jennifer (some 7 years old) on her lap. The woman and girl after that, I'm not sure about (the woman does not look like Joan, John's sister), but I'm guessing they are the wife and child of brother Jerry Williams, who's next in line. The woman on the left, I'm not sure about. Doesn't really look like Esther (Williams' mom), nor Joan.Joseph (some 3 years old, if my timeframe is correct) is not seen in the picture.
Incanus 5,890 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Another great recent one!https://twitter.com/DougAdamsMusic/status/653738964902260736
Thor 9,362 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Another great recent one!https://twitter.com/DougAdamsMusic/status/653738964902260736Yeah, that's the first current picture I've seen of Jerry (the last one I saw was from the late 70s or early 80s). I didn't even know if he was alive or not. Very cool!
Cerebral Cortex 3,365 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 What is the profession of Jerry?
Jay 46,242 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Well..... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1504407/ Cerebral Cortex 1
Maurizio 6,913 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 He's a percussionist too. He played in a zillion of film scores. Cerebral Cortex 1
Cerebral Cortex 3,365 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Oh, that's cool. Thanks for the intel, guys.
Thor 9,362 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 We mostly see younger brother Don in the percussion section, but as the IMDB profile shows -- Jerry's been working the stage on his older brother's scores too, all the way up to WAR HORSE (maybe he even worked on TFA?). Cerebral Cortex 1
Bespin Copilot 10,817 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Do you recognize him without his glasses?
Loert 3,116 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I'll be honest, I sooner recognized the E.T. score than John. Bespin Copilot 1
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Too soon? Not Mr. Big and Naïve Old Fart 1 1
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 No. We must be able to laugh at everything, or all is lost. Naïve Old Fart 1
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 There are times that I love you!
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 It's cute when you pretend it's just "times."
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Do you recognize him without his glasses?Who?
thx99 2,097 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 In addition to the pic in the opening post, I've always been partial to this one:
Sandor 918 Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Request: does anyone have this picture in better quality? Would be great as this is obviously one of the coolest photos ever taken of the maestro.
Thor 9,362 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Hasn't that pic been used to a lot of Photoshopping over the years, like lightning coming out of his hands, Yoda/The Force-style?
Sandor 918 Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 And what would be the greatest caption for this photo?
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 "So, is it true that William Ross wrote the music for Chamber Of Secrets?" Ricard and Xander Harris 2
Sandor 918 Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 "So, is it true that William Ross wrote the music for Chamber Of Secrets?"
Xander Harris 9,674 Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 It's not a photo until I took a screenshot, but my favorite Williams appearance I could think of is when he does this at the end of the Across the Stars music video:This is Williams' massive orchestral blowout face.
