I listened to the main theme last night. It's good, but it's also simple and predictable enough that I doubt it will remain interesting after a few more listens.

It also sounds a bit like a theme from Elfman's score to Milk, especially the piano variation that opens it.

I'm completely stoked for this film. From what I've heard from samples of the score, I think the score will be a hit and miss honestly from the samples I've heard. The film on the other hand I am completely STOKED for. Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer have a lot to live up too for this film. If the film doesn't deliver than I highly doubt we will see a Superman film any time soon after this or ever.

I know I shouldn't compare Nolan's Batman to Man of Steel BUT... I feel like this film is going to be like Batman Begins... I think they're is a great deal of hype surrounding this film, but I think a lot of people are going to be skeptical because the last film didn't live up to fan expectations. You also have the three high profile names tagged onto the film as well and I REALLY hope Snyder, Nolan and Goyer can deliver! I have ordered my midnight premiere tickets for Man of Steel! I'm so EXCITED! June 14th can't come soon enough!!!!!!!!!!

Having heard the incredibly dull soundtrack samples (seriously, is Zimmer aiming for a record in "score with the fewest notes ever"?), I doubt I will go an see MoS. A horrid score can put me off big time.

Probably I won't see it too. Even if it had the greatest music.

yes, almost sure.. (I am talking mostly about superhero movies, but others in general too)

well, the only fantasy films I've seen of the last years is the Dark Knight rises,the Dark Knight and Prometheus..

And those just to see what was all the fuss about (the first 2), and the 3rd because i loved the Alien series.

haven't seen (and probably won't) the Hobbit, Thor, Captain America, all the latest X-men movies, the Iron Man movies (saw the 1st one), the apes movies, dredd, john carter, total recall etc. etc..

to tell you the truth, i don' t see many recent films generally.

I watch one film every day, and those are: 99.9% from 1930-2000 (mostly 1930-1990) , and 0.1% from 2000-today (mostly the oscar nominated ones)

main reasons for this:

1) the music

2) prefer traditional effects over CGI

3) movies to me are an escape from reality, and because recent movies (even sci-fi and fantasy) have a realistic ouvre (eg compare the Nolan Batman with Tim Burton's), i prefer to see old movies, because i need psychologically an escape from now and reality.

Dredd was pretty nifty. I don't run to the cinema to see every big effects-laden movie but the reason why I'm not skipping this one (MOS) is the collaboration between Nolan and Snyder. I want to see the product of that. The Thors, Captain Americas, Iron Mans, ... those I'll watch when they are available for rental or when they are free on TV.

I think she has a bigger role than the trailers are letting on, but I'm sure she'll play more significantly into a possible sequel. You don't cast someone as talented like Amy Adams in a two-bit role for a franchise like this.

One of things that is worrying me (not the cape or the colors or the fanfare) is the familiarity of the story. It looks like they are fusing together the first half of Superman The Movie with Superman 2. Content-wise, it feels too much like a remake. OTOH, I'm sure Goyer will add some new stuff to it to keep it somewhat fresh for those who are not new to Supes. Right?

There is a short comic book story written by Goyer where Superman flights to Tehran to stop the violence but his peaceful intervention is seen as a stab in the heart of US policy so he decides to renounce citizenship as "Truth, Justice..." motto isn't good enough anymore.

Just read one brief and a little spoilery review of the film. It's from AICN so I take it with a grain of salt. Some clips:

it's no surprise that Chris Reeve's legacy will remain intact.

However the Superman Lore is large enough to encompass Allen, Reeves, Reeve, Routh, and Cavill and all the others who have played the man of steel.

Karol forgot to mention the reviewer praised the music, and the intro to the review referred to Hanz' score as already heralded.
