crocodile 9,724 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 He meant that it wasn't like the old Superman films.Karol
Wojo 2,458 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 "Man of Steel does have an unhealthy message about hiding your true abilities to keep others happy, even if its better in the long run." So, like in any superhero story created ever? Not exactly. RDJ's Iron Man embraces his alter ego as if he were a rock star. And the conflict over full disclosure is at the heart of Marvel's landmark Civil War storyline.
Jay 46,242 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 John Williams on the new Superman filmJohn Williams helped Superman soar on movie screens, but another composer is now giving flight to Krypton's favorite son. The franchise reboot "Man of Steel" opens Friday, June 14, with Henry Cavill in the title role and Hans Zimmer supplying the music. Coming off his latest of numerous collaborations with director Steven Spielberg, on "Lincoln," five-time Oscar winner Williams admits to having a spectrum of feelings about the update. "I haven't seen it," he tells Zap2it, "but I'm sure it will be wonderful. I don't know if they've used any of the original music or not; it's a Warner Bros. film, in which case, they certainly have the right to do so (having also made the earlier 'Superman' movies). I hope it will be successful, and I look forward to seeing it." Which isn't to say Williams won't find watching it bittersweet: "It puts me in mind of the late Chris Reeve, who we all loved so much. It's going to be hard for me not to let go of the music, but to let go of the idea of Superman being Chris. I thought he not only made that project successful, he embodied what all of us imagine Superman to look like if he could be given skin and bone, I think." http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2013/05/man-of-steel-will-be-hard-for-me-to-see-says-superman-composer-john-williams.html
Quintus 6,495 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Everything that comes of that man's mouth is poetry at this stage. Wojo 1
Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Beautiful tip of the hat to Christopher Reeve there! I stand by that John Williams is not just a great composer, he is a great man!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 I'm glad his words show he's proud of his musical accomplishment, he deserves to be, It's a piece worthy of being proud. Ollie 1
gkgyver 1,647 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 That's very brave of him, to expose himself to Zimmer's music at his age.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Nah.Besides, I have to take my mind off Wembley until tomorrow night. How does it feel, Englishman?
A24 5,156 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I couldn't give two shits about the football.I kinda like that scene in the Donner film.
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I like this spot, it's not as dark as some of the others.Karol
A24 5,156 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I'm saving it for my visit to the theater next month. Delorean90 and Quintus 2
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I couldn't give two shits about the football.I kinda like that scene in the Donner film. Now that's some football, every time he touches the football he can make a touchdown, every time.Gosh if he played for the Jayhawks they'd have a completely different football history to go with their great basketball history.
Wojo 2,458 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Uh, if he existed at all, all of humanity might have a different history.Probably something in the NCAA rule book about omnipotent aliens playing football. Somebody would be vacating wins.
Quintus 6,495 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 http://youtu.be/VMAl4LwFVVgAnyway, that suit is BADASS.

Somebody would be vacating wins.clearly you haven't been keeping up with this film. there is a shot of Clark wearing a Jayhawks t-shit.http://worldonline.media.clients.ellingtoncms.com/img/photos/2013/04/18/Screen_shot_2013-04-18_at_2.13.30_PM_2_t600x260.png?81864b192c2c8a81b47e3c682f855e85cb6468f5
Wojo 2,458 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 That's convenient. Even though "Clark Kent" is thought to be a normal guy, he's special. The Kents must have paid a doctor to lie on Clark's physicals. How could a simple needle pierce the skin of the Man of Steel to permit blood to be drawn for a drug test? Don't think that a young man with his performance wouldn't be checked out for enhancements.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 well the trick is to not seem like he's that special. On the needle thing, not sure how they get around that.tv spots are showing up with a scene between a grown Clark and Jor-El.Seems as if the first part of the film mirrors Superman the Movie to some degree. But not sure about the flying kryptonian creature.
Wycket 36 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Probably just a Jor-El hologram. Donner's Superman 2 had the same thing.
Jay 46,242 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 yea, it's obviously a hologram - I'm sure Jor El still dies when Krypton explodes
gkgyver 1,647 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Saw two trailers in the last two days. One before Star Trek, and one on TV. And neither managed to peak my interest in any way. Looks like an alien invasion film with Superman, whose suit looks way too dark.Paired with Zimmer's music, I thought it was a sequel to Battleship or something.
KK 3,313 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 It looks much more fun than that...There's no defense for Zimmers music though.
Jay 46,242 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Saw a new TV spot last night, it was great showing lots of new scenes that were all good

Why not just see the movie instead of making baseless assumptions?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Because that's not Gyver's way!

crocodile 9,724 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 In all honesty, Star Trek Into Darkness trailers felt exactly the same. Karol

Why not just see the movie instead of making baseless assumptions? Because deciding which movie is worth seeing is based on trailers and TV spots. That's the fault of your petulant narrow-minded stupidity, that's all. You're so reliant on trailers and the typical promo crap when choosing movies are you? I bet you also read celeb gossip magazines, and the movie reviews sections. Ever comprehend that some movie goers actually prefer to avoid all trailers and tv spots? Using, you know... intuition and good old experience to decide instead? Yawn. You're such a AICN Talkback cliché, gkgvyer.
Quintus 6,495 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Lol, get out! I thought you knew me by now...Gkgvyer's ENDLESS trolling over this movie and score has become a fucking parody at this point, and I just felt like pointing it out. As I tend to do.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Ok, if you don't wanna talk about your issues on a public forum I completely understand.Drop me a PM if you need to vent.
Quintus 6,495 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 You may have the bald head of Dr Phil, but not the wit and insight. Which is unfortunate, because I need to share my dreadful sins before they consume me. Or something.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I am not bald.And Dr. Phil is a cunt!
Quintus 6,495 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I've never even seen it Beginning to actually feel the excitement growing inside for Man of Steel now. Literally the only movie on my radar this year, having happily retired to tv productions for the time being. You should try it, watch more of it.But yeah, this guy who they have playing Superman looks like he physically embodies the MAN OF STEEL. I hope like mad that he has the chops and charisma to complete the package and NAIL it.

Quintus 6,495 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 From where I'm sitting, this thread looks like the official GKGVYER OF STEEL (naughtiness) thread.
