BloodBoal 8,711 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 When I watched the poster, I thought for a second that Alan Rickman was part of the cast. Big (if short) WTF? moment.
filmmusic 3,269 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Battleship was Transformers 4Speaking Michael Bay: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot posterTMNT was the first movie I saw alone with friends at 4th grade.I fear what this might turn out!!(well, we already know how the score is gonna be)
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I thought MIchael Bay and Meghan Fox had a falling out?they've mended their fences.
A24 5,156 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Battleship was Transformers 4Speaking Michael Bay: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot posterI can't stand the turtles, but I have to say, that is a good poster!
Quintus 6,495 Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-19-bioshock-creator-ken-levine-writing-logans-run-movieLevine's a fiercely smart and creative guy and I reckon he'll do a better job crossing over than his big name Hollywood equivalents who have for a few years now been getting hired to knock up complete tripe for games.
Romão 2,473 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I think this is the first movie I have ever had any inside info about
Ollie 1,375 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The idea of a film about mankind inventing giant robots to fight giant monsters is about as silly as an near indestructible alien who can fly, being raised on earth with an obvious secret identity who battles bad guys, aliens and creatures. But as long as it entertains, right?
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The idea of a film about mankind inventing giant robots to fight giant monsters is about as silly as an near indestructible alien who can fly, being raised on earth with an obvious secret identity who battles bad guys, aliens and creatures. But as long as it entertains, right?sadly the last film about a man raised on earth who can fly did not entertain
Ollie 1,375 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I'm counting on Pacific Rim to be more entertaining. The bar for Superman was set too high in 1978.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I've got my sites squarely on World War Z, I've gone from thinking utter bomb to redeemed blockbuster.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The trailer certainly looks interesting.
A24 5,156 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The idea of a film about mankind inventing giant robots to fight giant monsters is about as silly as an near indestructible alien who can fly, being raised on earth with an obvious secret identity who battles bad guys, aliens and creatures. But as long as it entertains, right?Yeah, but you like giant robots doing kung-fu with Godzilla. To you that is cool. You're probably still in your Power Rangers phase.
Ollie 1,375 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Nope I'm just not some uptight snob who looks down on everyone because of their choices for entertainment. Jay and Koray Savas 2
Jay 46,243 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Saw this trailer in front of Man Of Steel last night and thought it looked pretty good Never seen Harrison Ford with a shaved head before!!!!The other trailers we got where World War Z, Pacific Rim, RIPD, and something else I forget. No Desolation of Smaug trailer, sadly (probably because it was a 2D showing)
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I posted that a couple pages ago, I even seem to remember you commenting on it.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 RIPD,now if any film looks so bad, this is it.
Jay 46,243 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I had definitely never seen the trailer or even heard of the movie before the trailer was playing in front of me last night
KK 3,313 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Koray posted two trailers, you commented on one of them, not sure if you watched the other.Wow, Runner Runner looks pretty cool! Only because I know all about the poker world. If I didn't it would probably look dumb to me
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 RIPD,now if any film looks so bad, this is it.It looks like Men In Black. Same concept, similar characters. (Cocky hothead, laid back southerner)Screams rental to me.
Quintus 6,495 Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/19/dumb-and-dumber-to-universal_n_3464709.htmlWell it's about goddamn time if you ask me.
nightscape94 968 Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 That Paranoia movie doesn't look good at all. I saw a really good trailer for Elysium in front of Man of Steel. That movie looks phenomenal.
Quintus 6,495 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Carrey refuses to support Kick-Ass 2 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23027684 Overreaction?
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 actually it is a very interesting story. Maybe a saturation point has been reached where people are going to say wait a minute the level of violence and destruction has reached a point that enough is enough.
Quintus 6,495 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 It does make me think there must be some particularly extreme cartoony ultra violence in the film for Carrey to suddenly have a moral crisis.
Ollie 1,375 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 He should be apologetic for trying to make a sequel to Dumb and Dumber.
Matt C 605 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 That looks hilarious. After Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street, I have faith in these guys.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Pacific Rim has an extended preview in the Under the Dome premeire. It featured a speech that pretty much was stolen from Independence Day.
Brónach 1,330 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Was it Elba's "cancelling the apocalypse" speech? At least that actor makes it sound cool.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Well Bill Pullman's speech in ID4 was pretty much the best moment in the whole film. Was it Elba's "cancelling the apocalypse" speech? At least that actor makes it sound cool.I like Elba a lot but Pullman did it better.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 It looks like a cool blend of True Romance, Thelma & Louise, and No Country For Old Men.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Yeah those 44 seconds really let you know what the film is going to be like.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Well Bill Pullman's speech in ID4 was pretty much the best moment in the whole film.Made me proud to be an American!
Brónach 1,330 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Yeah those 44 seconds really let you know what the film is going to be like.Actually, those 44 seconds don't tell me what the film is going to be like, and as it is a Ridley Scott film that's not named The Duellists, Blade Runner or Alien, and as it is a genre/setting I don't have a lot of interest in per se, I'm passing so far.I'm not a fan of Penélope Cruz either.
Incanus 5,890 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Oooh Ridley has a new composer onboard, Daniel Pemberton.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Yeah I posted that awhile back, don't remember which thread.
KK 3,313 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 And we posted some of Pembertons past work and it sounded good.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I'm only familiar with his pastiche music from The Movies computer game. Fun stuff.
Jay 46,243 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The discussion was here:http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20099&page=4#entry898893
