Matt C 605 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 After the very successful re-release of Lion King 3D (and Disney's subsequent announcement of four 3D re-releases for next year and 2013), it appears that 2012 will have more (3D) re-releases than expected.2012Beauty and the Beast - January 13The Phantom Menace - February 10Titanic - April 6Finding Nemo - September 142013Monsters, Inc. - January 18The Little Mermaid - September 13I have a feeling more and more studios will jump on the 3D re-release bandwagon if Phantom Menace and Titanic have successful re-release runs.What do you guys think?

Avatar was good in that format, but I'm not going to get all gooey about all these re-releases.

It's not the traditional post-conversion that live-action 2D does, and all Pixar had to do was insert another "virtual camera" for their Toy Story 3D double-feature release. You won't see a conversion company like Prime Focus, Legend3D or Animal Logic in the end credits for Pixar movies.I've heard that James Cameron "encouraged" Paramount and Fox to spend $18M to convert Titanic properly. He screened 15 minutes of converted footage in Europe to wild applause.
