Morlock 12 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 I think I speak for others when I say
Elmo Lewis 7 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 No, it's actually good news. It means Joel Schumacher and McG are closer to getting this too.
Lurker 5 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 No, it's actually good news. It means Joel Schumacher and McG are closer to getting this too. Neil

Morlock 12 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 No, it's actually good news. It means Joel Schumacher and McG are closer to getting this too. Come on now, Schumacher has done half a good movie here and there.
Lurker 5 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 No, it's actually good news. It means Joel Schumacher and McG are closer to getting this too. Come on now, Schumacher has done half a good movie here and there. And Lucas made American Graffiti and Star Wars.Neil
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 I liked Falling Down and Phone Booth, and The Phantom of the Opera could be good. Bad Company sucks. And Schumacher also had a major part in killing off the Batman franchise (along with Akiva Goldsman's horrible screenplays).
Morlock 12 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 But putting him together with McG who has not done an ounce of anything slightly worthwhile is unfair.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted October 16, 2004 Author Posted October 16, 2004 Schumacher is an interesting director who has had the guts to take risks with the films he has made, some times he failed, other times he didn't.Falling down, 8MM and Phone Booth more then make up for Batman & Robin.
Romão 2,473 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 Yeah, I agree. As a batman fan, I will never forgive him for what he did to the character, but he has made some interesting films.
QMM 4 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 I really liked Phone Booth, Sutherland was the best part of the movie
CYPHER 1 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Okay, this thread seems perfectly suited to some Lucas-bashing, and suddenly we're all talking about Joel Schumacher??? What's going on??? LOL My two cents on Schumacher: Tigerland wasn't bad and I liked Flatliners - it terrified me as a kid and that's always a plus in my books. Everything else is pretty crap. And I think Georgie-boy, despite his ever-increasing faults, surely deserves an award of this magnitude for past services rendered (whatever the award is. It certainly isn't from the Australian Film Institute, which is the only AFI I'm friends with).CYPHER
Henry B 51 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Sure, Lucas deserves this award for his past endeavors. Nobody can deny the monumental impact of Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Morlock 12 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 And ruining Star Wars is certainly some achievment.
fommes 165 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 As a symbolic gesture, the AFI Lifetime Award will be presented only in CGI. There will be no original award given.
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 LOLAnd indeed, Schumacher is still much better than McG. Even Michael Bay is better than McG.- Marc
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Well Lucas has spent a lifetime 'polishing' Star Wars, right?
Morlock 12 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Bale, Bale, Bale ... "If ya like Bale so much, why don't you marry him?"
Trumpeteer 304 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 As a symbolic gesture, the AFI Lifetime Award will be presented only in CGI. There will be no original award given.
