chuck 155 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 If he was born in the 70's then his teen/young adult years would be in the 80's...
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 How so?because I lived through the 70's, I saw Jaws, Star War, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman.I saw Fiddler on the Roof, Chinatown, the Exorcist, the Towering Inferno, Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, Airport.I saw Larry Bird, Earl Campbell, I met Alan Shepard, Neil Armstrong, got propositioned on top of the World Trade Center by a hooker, I visited 3 mile island shortly after Wolverine destroyed it.Koray I was born in 1960. Fun times.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 The down side is I did wear leisure suits, and I had a Justin Beiber haircut long before Justin.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I've been wondering today whatever happened to you? Long time no post.KarolI didn't have anything to say.
crocodile 9,724 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 It doesn't exactly stop the majority of us. Karol
Jay 46,241 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I just watched the Jack Ryan trailer.... meh. Doesn't look interesting at all, really....
A24 5,155 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 If one can be Kirk, one can easily be Bourne.
A24 5,155 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 No, Kirk and Bourne are boyish. Bond is a real man!
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Yeah! He drinks martinis with a scorpion on his hand!
Jay 46,241 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Cool trailer, I liked everything about itSeeing WB and Legendary together reminded me about this news storyhttp://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/warner-bros-closes-450-million-637389
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 All i get is a notice to update my flashplayer
Jay 46,241 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Worked fine for me, embedded right in the post.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 That teaser gave me wicked chills. Can't wait for it if it's a semi-decent film!
crocodile 9,724 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 It's a nice teaser. The film itself can only be worse. Karol
chuck 155 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Like I said, I like the way they posed the logo Legendary above the title Godzilla, sort of like a crown. Epic.
Quintus 6,494 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 It's also really absurd. They try and cram mature integrity into everything nowadays, but to me it's just a monster smashes up a city movie. Nothing wrong with that, but I mean, it used to be a bloke in a suit. This trailer would have you believe it's something much more profound which I'm not sure whether to chuckle at or just cringe.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 The age of silly monster movies is over. The flopping of Pacific Rim is testament to that. Also, i'm no expert, but subtext were always a big part of the Godzilla films, or so i read.
Brónach 1,330 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 That teaser is really cool. I take it this has nothing to do with the Emmerich film and Godzilla is a again a representation of nuclear weapons and natural disaster. Actually I would love if it was actually terrifying, it should be a horror film. And invasions with kaijus are the best possible silly invasion. I much prefer it to zombies. However the genre is sorely lacking on great films, which is disappointing.
Quintus 6,494 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Also, i'm no expert, but subtext were always a big part of the Godzilla films, or so i read. That may well be the case, but I'm afraid I'll never get past the bloke in the suit part. It'd be like asking me to view The Power Rangers as an allegory for American foreign policy or some teenage awakening bollocks.
Brónach 1,330 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I loved the bloke in the suit effect. It was both fun and gloomy simultaneously. The ingenuity of it represents people's terrified reaction to the subtext marvelously. It's othe aspects of Godzilla that made me dislike it. But as it ended, I thought a well done remake could be wonderful. It'd be like asking me to view The Power Rangers as an allegory for American foreign policy or some teenage awakening bollocks.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daigo_Fukury%C5%AB_MaruIt's the country of earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, and being nuked by USA. It's not that hard to get.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 We cannot go back to "man in suit", guys!
Brónach 1,330 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 But we have Desplat! And he's probably forced to make his music emote this time! I wonder if he'll do music like in the teaser. That could fit.Or maybe something like the first two minutes and a half of this track:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yt8FrrxiWoY
Quintus 6,494 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 I'm bored to death of these sorts of generic 'reflection' cues. Every movie has them, they're just textural wallpaper to me. Giacchino dines out on them.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 The music like in the trailer, you mean the Dark Knight sound effects?
Quintus 6,494 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Don't like Batman music.Well, unless it's Elfman's or Goldenthal's. Full bodied and bursting with character.
Brónach 1,330 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 The music like in the trailer, you mean the Dark Knight sound effects? No, the chorus behind them. But with more flair than that.Actually, how about something like the darkest parts of Close Encounters or War of the Worlds.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Don't like Batman music.Well, unless it's Elfman's or Goldenthal's. Full bodied and bursting with character.I'm liking you much more today!
Quintus 6,494 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Well of course, you're like the weather in that way
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Nah, i'm like a difficult mistress.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Some days you just don't understand me, Lee. Who I am, what my needs are!
Quintus 6,494 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 What you need is a good boot up the arse, sonny!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Hmmppff...(Turns back to Lee, crosses legs and pouts)
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 If he thinks he can make up with a piece of toast then he's got another thing coming!I want effort, and commitment, no more excuses this time! And i want a baby! What are you waiting for!!!!
filmmusic 3,269 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I must say the music choice of the Godzilla teaser was excellent!Far from the usual big Blokcbuster music which is in todays' films. It reminded me of Ligeti and 2001.
