There's always that one person who likes it but let's not pretend Terminator Salvation was a critics' favorite: RT: 33%

The Terminator is good, Judgement Day is great, Rise Of The Machines has its moments, Salvation is shit, but then again the guy who directed it calls himself McG. A douchebag if there ever was one.

His whole world and everything he loves would come crashing down on him. We'd think he'd taken a holiday.

T2 and the original will never be matched. I have to say just for sheer anxiety the original is more raw.

Yes. The low-fi hard edge of the original adds an almost eerie quality which is lacking from the more expensive polished sequel.

Exactly. It's like scary shit before Blair Witch was cool.

 Ah, Alex, what would you do without Rotten Tomatoes? I dare not imagine.

IMDb: Prometheus: 7.8

I do like the ending of T3. The whole "We did that for nothing" thing, the fact that Judgment Day can't be stopped, it was quite nice. This film has many flaws, but the ending surely wasn't one of them.

It's tame compared to the nuclear scenes from Terminator 2, which packed a real punch.

I agree. A real downer, but I like films that surprise that way, esp. Hollywood films. It also makes everything fit together. I do wish they'd gotten Edward Furlong to repeat his role as John Connor, though (and in 4 as well), but I understand that he's been having some issues in recent years.

I still get chills thinking about those nuclear scenes from T2. Those made me seriously numb

I agree. I used to have constant nightmares about that scene from T2 (back when the film and myself was quite young) believing that was going to happen for real. It still could.

Yes. There are a lot of nuclear weapons in the world just ready to be used. It's ridiculous. They should be used up there, to move spaceships. But that's forbidden and apparently it's better to have them in missiles pointing at other's strategic targets.

Take it as you will, but Leonard Maltin gave T4 *** stars. You guys are speaking about the film as being as bad as Friday The 13th Part 2 or something. It's not.

Maltin's been unreliable over the last ten years because he plays it too safe and gives almost anything three stars. Everything from Batman Begins, Superman Returns, The Simpsons Movie, KOTCS, ROTS - all three stars, whether they deserved it or not. Yet he gives The Dark Knight only two.

Posted

T2 had the perfect ending. 3 and 4 shouldn't exist.

If you're going to get picky about it, Joey, after the ending of "T:2", both "The Terminator", and "T:2" wouldn't exist.

Sounds like a reasonable guy to me.

Yes they would exist, the ending of T2 changed the future, not the immediate past/present. This isn't some stupid ripoff of back to the future comedic syfy where the photograph is going blank.

All of those films deserve that rating. And if you think he "plays it safe" and gives almost anything three stars, maybe its time to read a few more of the reviews in his book ;)

Glad to see someone who understands the time travel theory of these films.

Which T3 screwed up or so I hear.

Maybe. But for me Sarah Conner = Linda Hamilton

This!

I can't believe they're still going to make a 5th and 6th film.

I thought Terminator Salvation wasn't too bad, although nothing spectacular. They're just running this series into the ground...

Isn't Schwarzenegger supposed to be back for the 5th film?

Up until today Arnie was my only interest in this movie. Never did see Salvation.

Btw yes I know T3 was shit, but I'm hoping its sun-kissed action romp tone might be binned for this one and replaced with something a little darker.

Snobs, you're missing the potential here. This might be the best cheesy casting since Tarzan played Rico in Starship Troopers.

And yes - in that order.

He should learn to spell Jay.

The next Terminator film sounds like it could be good! www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=40332
