MSM 194 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I think 5. is from E.T.and 3. is from Dracula. Hm...or maybe from Attack of the Clones.
Score 775 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 3. Can't remember the name of the cue, but I believe it's from Star Wars5. The Mine Car Chase from Temple of DoomNo idea about 10!I agree with n. 5, I have just found it as well. And I also had the same suspect as you about n. 3, but I am not completely sure... it may also be from: (follows in white color) The Empire Strikes Backand for several reasons I think this option is more likely, although I cannot verify it in this moment.
Marc 1,071 Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 OrchDork => you're right about both !MSM => sorry man all wrongHere's another extract from 3

indy4 160 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Thank God for unique rhythms, otherwise I wouldn't have a shot at this game.
Marc 1,071 Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Here's one score I just came upon, 600 pages of this( there's absolutely no woodwind at all, just brass, mostly low-pitched in unison, and strings with an occasional choir....for 600 pages )
Sharkissimo 1,978 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 1. INCEPTION - Can tell by the ensemble and date.2. A Williams cue orchestrated by Conrad Pope. Maybe something from one of the Harry Potter films?3. SPEED - Mark Mancina4. VERTIGO - Bernard Herrmann5. Something by Giacchino? THE INCREDIBLES perhaps?6. QUILLS - Stephen Warbeck?7. Not a clue
filmmusic 3,270 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 2 isTintin - first cue7 may be from a western.6 is LOST? I don't know..by the way, that means that the inception score is out there?
Marc 1,071 Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 2 is Tintin - first cue 6 is LOST? I don't know.. Both correct ! by the way, that means that the inception score is out there? Only this one cue
filmmusic 3,270 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 ok. Is 7 from a western indeed?the rhythm looks like it. and it reminds me of something.
Marc 1,071 Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 ok. Is 7 from a western indeed? the rhythm looks like it. and it reminds me of something. Yes
Sharkissimo 1,978 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 8 horns, so it has to be from the 90s onwards. BACK TO THE FUTURE III?
Marc 1,071 Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 5 is the main title from mikes new car Indeed !
Jay 46,244 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 8 horns, so it has to be from the 90s onwards. Why is that?
Sharkissimo 1,978 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 8 horns, so it has to be from the 90s onwards. Why is that? It just became more common for action blockbusters, thanks to composers like Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri, Christopher Young, Trevor Rabin, Mark Mancina, Elliot Goldenthal and others. Even Williams jumped on the bandwagon with TPM and ROTS. Why? Possibly the increasing prominence of sound fx.
Sharkissimo 1,978 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Williams used eight horns very frequently in TESB No. He only used 6.
dylan345 3 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 In the sketch for this is not a cave it clearly says eight horns
Sharkissimo 1,978 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 You're taking about measure 90 (5:22 in Jedi Master Revealed/Mynock Cave), right? I take back my statement that Williams only used 6, but that's still a one-off. He wanted a bizarre/grotesque Herrmannesque effect for the reveal of the space slug (Herrmann loved using 8 horns - especially in his Harryhausen scores) - so he wrote four part minor triads in 16th notes - rolling around chromatically in parallel motion - with the 8 horns double-tonguing. As someone who's studied a number of fully orchestrated cues from the score, I can tell you the standard number of horns is 6 or 4. Even the largest musical tableaux in the score - The Battle of Hoth - which calls for 5 oboes and 2 pianos - only has 6.
dylan345 3 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Yeah I realized after looking further into the score, I thought eight was used more than just that one cue.
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Taking the plunge and registering in order to play. Hi everyone! #3 is Unbreakable. Nifty little tune. Also, that excerpt from Lost - do you know what cue/what episode it's from? So familiar but I can't place it. ALSO...where exactly do you acquire these full scores?
