manual transmissions can be hard on the knee's and back.

Of the 10 vehicles I've own only one was automatic.

Driving a manual car is easy. If I could teach my sister how to drive one I could teach most anyone. There is no reason for fear, except when you must stop on a hill.

Yep, I prefer to row my own.

As for fears, I won't rehash the spiders and wasps. That's a given.

My biggest phobia is my kids getting hurt. I have a hard time going with them to the playground and something like that as all I can think about is them possibly getting hurt. My stomach starts to turn and I become very irritable and am constantly things about being careful and such.

I find this weird as I did some crazy stuff when I was growing up and never got hurt. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I realize now what could have happened to me if I got hurt and watching my own flesh and blood try the same things.

It can sometimes be quite debilitating. My mother-in-law wonders all the time how I'm going to handle my daughter getting more and more advanced in gymnastics.

You can't have a driver's license in Portugal without being able to drive stick. I'd say 97% of the drivers around here drive stick. Automatic cars are actually frowned upon

even I've heard that driving in Portugal is not for the faint hearted, that it's among the worst places in Europe to drive.

I really woudn't know. It's far far worse in italy. We have traffic rules around here

yeah italy was nasty sometimes.

And well, the roundabout around the Arc du triomphe in Paris was a nightmare.

And the english drive on the wrong side!

I'd have no problems emigrating there. Looks more like paradise on earth to me.

if you're afraid of spiders this is not the place for you.

hell on earth is Australia

As I said before, the eight-legged freak invasion has begun!

That reminds of the typo in an actual movie title:

"eight-legged freaks" = freaks with eight legs

"eight legged freaks" = 8 freaks who have legs

They kill bugs? That's great, but stay outta my sight.

Carnivorous plants scare me, although their size and mobility make them not as much of an issue.

I've forgotten what phobias I have. Clowns used to scare the crap out of me though (the full make-up ones only, if they had any areas on the face without make-up it didn't scare me). I think it's just the foreign semi-human way they look. It's sort of like the uncanny valley effect.

tim-curry-pennywise-1ba06.jpg Ladies and Gents,of the board ( pun intended )the reason why I DESPISE CLOWNS with a passion. brr. I like Tim Curry, he's an awesome actor, but he was TOO GOOD in this.

I have a deathly fear of moths and (to a lesser extent) butterflies. I can't even begin to understand how anyone can call these things "cute".

Not gonna see Anomalisa then?

That one probably wouldn't bother me too much as the designs look more simplified. The more realistic human stop-motion puppets are the ones that give me the uncanny valley effect (which strangely enough never happens for me when concerning the far more popular offender, motion capture)
