alicebrallice 134 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I'm really interested in why you think HBP falls under the "banal mediocrity" category... it's in my top 3 of the whole series. I think it has pretty much everything you can ask for.
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Harry Potter sucks, so it doesn't matter to me either way. I only like Prisoner Of Azkaban.Agreed.
Wojo 2,458 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Star Wars, Indiana Jones...personally I am only interested in the first 3 moviesAgreed.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 it's a magnificent series but the price tag for this set is fking ridiculous.
stewdog1 50 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 This whole thing is asinine. Trying to say that is 31 discs is a misnomer. If it was 31 discs each with its own content then I can maybe justify it, but it comes with DVDs of the same content as the Blu-Rays. Make two different sets, one for Blu-Ray and the other for DVD. Stop forcing everyone to pay double.Besides, if the DVDs are as cheap as these companies say they are, then the price of this thing should be much lower. Maybe $150. Or no more than the LOTR set.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 it's a magnificent series but the price tag for this set is fking ridiculous.Especially since unless you have kids you will have to hide such a set in a very secret place.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I'd hide it under a stack of gay porn.Much less embarrassing to be seen with that then a Harry Potter box set...
stewdog1 50 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I'd hide it under a stack of gay porn.Much less embarrassing to be seen with that then a Harry Potter box set...Um, well...
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I'd hide it under a stack of gay porn.Much less embarrassing to be seen with that then a Harry Potter box set...I guess I'd have to borrow yours since I don't have any.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Because you are living it, Joe!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 guiltyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Only according to Rick Santorum
Wojo 2,458 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Is the ban on politics and religion optional these days?
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Is the ban on politics and religion optional these days?my comment is not valid with either of those two things, but pop culture, specifically Peter on Family Guy. Unlike Peter I have never participated in an eleven way.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I hope Mojo was referring to moi.
Maglorfin 219 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I never knew that PS and CoS existed in extended cuts!
Jay 46,241 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Wow, I dunno how you missed that. They've been airing on ABC Family for 10 years and have been available on DVD/Blu Ray for maybe 3 years now.
Jay 46,241 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 No big deal. Here are the blu rays to get on Amazon US:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002GJT4XW/http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002GJT4YQ/
Once 1,082 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 It's just about 10 mins of deleted scenes already available on the original releases edited into the film.
Jay 46,241 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 That's correct. And there are more deleted scenes out there for those films - in fact all 8 films - that were not included in the special features of the original DVD/Blu releases - and also didn't appear on the Ultimate Edition sets, and also won't be appearing in this new 31 disc set! Very annoying.
MrJosh 1,205 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Yeah pretty lame...and all blurays should include ISO scores. There's enough space, why not? Its minimal effort too, just slap the isolated score track on, edits and all. It would sure help some of my sfx laden edits.
Wojo 2,458 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Licensing might be an issue. Reissue fees might be an issue. Maybe they don't want to pay Leroy to sit down and actually process the isolated scores for attachment to the BluRay. Or maybe the BR producers are finally on to folks like us.
MrJosh 1,205 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Oh yeah I bet you are right, those damn reissue fees.
Score_Fan 37 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 That's correct. Very annoying.Hence, another reason I'm not buying this.

Very annoying.Indeed. I'd love to see Rik Mayall's Peeves, the Brain room from OotP or Emma Thompson playing drunk in PoA. So much great stuff we know was filmed. Just annoying.
Jay 46,241 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I don't know what WB is waiting for to release them!
Josh500 1,620 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Yeah, harry potter is one of the best, and stayed consistently well-made throughout the entire series, and never really dipped in quality (imo), and there's not much franchises that don't do that, much less an 8-film-series franchise.Quality wise, I think the series has its highs and lows. Highs being PS/SS, POA, OOTP, DH2 to banal mediocrity being COS, GOF, HBP, with DH1 being somewhere in the middle.Yeah, like in any other franchise: James Bond, even Indiana Jones and Batman, etc.______________________Btw, why should I get this set?In a few years we will be getting the REALLY COMPLETE 42-disc set anyway!
