Wojo 2,458 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I'd rather have Ralph Wiggum sing the Fox Fanfare than that digitized crap, but what can ya do?
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I though the stupidest studio idea was Paramount hiring JJ Abrams for Star Trek
MSM 194 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 It's a freaking logo, get over it.Movies get made or not because of logos. If it wasn't for the classic 20th Century Fox logo, Emmerich wouldn't have made ID4 with this studio. Wait, really?Yes, I am serious. He stated it in the same interview in 1996 in which he told John Williams wouldn't score his movies after he heard Arnold's work. He said something like he decided to make it with 20th Century also because of the "great music they play with the logo", which gave him "the ultimate cinematic feel". I have to look for the reference though...but he did.
hornist 1,261 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I though the stupidest studio idea was Paramount hiring JJ Abrams for Star TrekI think it was the most cleverest idea to make decent/quite a good movie.About the logo I would say it's sad, very sad.
MSM 194 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Well it's not so bad after all if it's just for the parent company, not the movies.
Olivier 5 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 The film studio hasn't been rebranded as 21st Century Fox, the parent company has. They're keeping the same name, logo and fanfare for the film studio. That's slightly better news but not much.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 How is that slightly better news? You all care about movies, right? Well the logo isn't changing for those. I seriously doubt any of us will see this before anything we watch, film or TV.
MSM 194 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 It depends on what the former parent company logo looked like. Was it the same logo as it was for the movies?
Uni 307 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 How is that slightly better news? You all care about movies, right? Well the logo isn't changing for those. I seriously doubt any of us will see this before anything we watch, film or TV.Exactly. The start of this thread made it appear that this would be the new logo for Fox movies. That doesn't appear to be the case. If it pops up after TV shows and news broadcasts, who really cares. . . ?- Uni
A24 5,156 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I really believed it. We are living in a fanfare-less age, so it makes sense for Fox to change their logo to the will of the Zimmerites.Alex
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 I still think it'll happen. Just you wait.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 If it pops up after TV shows and news broadcasts, who really cares. . . ?But, but... Shows like The Simpsons will never be the same without the fanfare! Wait... The Simpsons stopped being the same years ago. Forget it.Never got the hype about that unfunny show. But wrong thread ...
Wojo 2,458 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I think The Simpsons stopped being relevant half a lifetime ago.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 The Simpson's started sucking around '95/'96.By '97 I was done with it.
KK 3,313 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 It was still quite good up till 2000s-ish. First 9 seasons are great.
Brónach 1,330 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I always saw it passively as out of order reruns so no idea. I could tell changes in the dub and animation and quality from episode to episode.
KK 3,313 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I used to do that. And then one summer, I just sat down and marathoned it all
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 When You Wish Upon a Star will open Episode 7.I suspect we'll end up with a quick, silent Disney logo, not the full CG flyaround with lush orchestral score. At least now we can reassure ourselves that we never would have gotten the Fox fanfare with that film in the first place...I think the most likely scenario for Episode VII is that the film will open with the Lucasfilm logo rather than any of Disney's logos (whether it's the castle or Touchstone Pictures label). Disney has not put their logo on any of their Marvel Studios films, as they own the brand (same with Lucasfilm). What is likely the only indication of Disney's ownership will be the end credit disclaimer: "Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures."But I wouldn't be surprised if Disney licenses the Fox fanfare to use in Episode VII.THAT.Maybe disney even lets FOX invest money in the film, in echange of that.but then... where does the bad robot logo fit? maybe not the full animation, just the ending drawing...
Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 but then... where does the bad robot logo fit?End of the film after the End Credits?
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 You can't have a Star Wars film without the Fox fanfare before it... can you?Karol
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 No no, it's not the same. The main title from Star Wars is like a natural musical follow-up to Fox fanfare. They were always one to me.Williams seems to agree (at 0:28) Karol
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 No no, it's not the same. The main title from Star Wars is like a natural musical follow-up to Fox fanfare. They were always one to me.Of course, it's the same! For many people, the march and Superman were always one to them!No there were different Superman themes before that and after. And quite a few of them pretty good. But I'm talking about it in musical terms.Karol
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 You don't remember the Max Fleischer cartoon theme? It's great.Karol
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Max Fleischer. In fact I've watched these before seeing Donner's film and they more feel like a definite take on the character for me. Love them.Karol
Wycket 36 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 You can't have a Star Wars film without the Fox fanfare before it... can you?KarolWell, there will be in two years so you better start accepting it.Seriously, its just a few seconds of music. If Williams is composing, I'm sure they'll let him come up with something to play over their logo and the "A Long Time Ago...." bit that will fit just as well.
Datameister 2,586 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 There is a severe shortage of Williams-penned logo music in this world, I must admit.
