Wojo 2,458 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Photoshop proves how brilliant the rebooted Star Trek casting has been. http://metro.co.uk/2013/09/24/star-trek-actors-past-and-present-combined-in-eerie-portraits-4099527/
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 creepy.DeForrest Kelly was a very nice looking man.
Wojo 2,458 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 He had an infectious smile. That's quite an achievement, being a space doctor.
chuck 155 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Well at least they're voted as the worst.
Jay 46,241 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 J.J. Abrams thinks he should have just admitted Khan was in his Star Trek movie
Trent B 354 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Interesting, although a lot of people had guessed that he was Khan anyways. In a way though they did the right thing by keeping it a secret.
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I think the principle behind why JJ is like that is a good one. He wants to preserve the magic and mystery of cinema. But he doesn't always handle it in the best way, if there even is a good way at all with the internet existing.
Red 75 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 He took his "mystery box" philosophy too far. It's worked in other things but not here. Will Tasker 1
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 He took his "mystery box" philosophy too far. It's worked in other things but not here. It didnt work out because people have been thinking "KHAAANNN" ever since the rumors about Benecio Del Toro being cast first appeared. And JJ spent over three years denying something that was ultimately true. I went Into Darkness spoiler free, and at no point did I not think they weren't re-using Khan. It was just too obvious.
Jay 46,241 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Paramount is finally issuing a 2disc STID BD with all the special features that were previously separated out to different retailer exclusives, but it's bundled with the existing 2disc BD of ST09http://www.thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/062314_0600
Richard P 5,302 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 They should've just not done the exclusives thing to begin with. Nothing good came from that.Even with this, people still have to buy the first one again.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I want it, but I already own both separately and will pass.
nightscape94 968 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I guess it depends on how important all of those extras are to you. Is the commentary just a strung-together audio from interview sources? I assume so based on the number of participants.I don't own either of these. Might as well get it now before Orci makes it worse
Jay 46,241 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 J.J. Abrams thinks he should have just admitted Khan was in his Star Trek movie And 2 years later to the day! Damon Lindelof admits he fucked up Star Trek Into Darkness’ big reveal
Will Tasker 21 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Didn't know (or didn't remember) Benicio Del Toro was originally going to play Khan. He would have been more fitting for the role, methinks.I actually really like the character *before* the reveal. Once you know he's not Harrison, its like "Why even bother"?
Richard P 5,302 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I think poorly of the TWD writers for pulling that one.I just wish JJ wouldn't be so damn secretive about every movie he ever does. It's certainly good for avoiding spoilers, but you need something to hang on to when deciding whether to see a movie. Matt C 1
Jay 46,241 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 J.J. Abrams was 'frustrated' by his Star Trek Into Darkness choices
A. A. Ron 2,485 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Sounds to me like something the studio would encourage Abrams to say, y'know, in order to make us think that they're aware of Into Darkness's problems and or to make us think that Star Trek Beyond will be better somehow.Had to laugh when JJ referred to Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof as "brilliant writers."“At the end of the day, while I agree with Damon Lindelof that withholding the Khan thing ended up seeming like we were lying to people, I was trying to preserve the fun for the audience, and not just tell them something that the characters don’t learn for 45 minutes into the movie, so the audience wouldn’t be so ahead of it,” Abrams told BuzzFeed.Oh I get it now, JJ. It only seems like you were lying to us.
Wojo 2,458 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Somewhere FF Coppola is kicking himself for not imagining a Godfather Part 4 using the same plan.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,383 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 One of the worst writers in Hollywood today. Though Kurtzman is possibly worse.Have any of these people experienced life outside Hollywood? Xander Harris 1
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Lindelof is a good writer of moments but needs someone (like Cuse) to make sure the big picture stays in focus. Without that, or paired with clowns like Orci/Kurtzman, he's dangerous.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 All of his big Hollywood films are rewrites of other people's scripts. LOST and Tomorrowland are great, and I've only heard good things about The Leftovers.
Xander Harris 9,672 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Tomorrowland was good as far as characters go and how the story unfolded for the first hour or so. The resolution of it all, however, was fucking awful.
