It's precisely why they are decent, Joey doesn't like it.

Posted

I'd feel more comfortable about this if Zack Snyder had actually made a decent film before but since he hasn't I worry.

Watchmen is the best film ever to be based on a comic book.

Really Joe.

I wouldn't wipe my ass with it. It's that bad.

seriously Dawn of the Dead, pales considerably to it's superior original. It's only redeeming value is a superior episode of South Park parodies it.

300, all style no substance. white cotton candy.

Sucker Punch, unwatchable. waste of 5 bucks

Watchmen, horrible unwatchable film, waste of dvd $$$, at least I won't upgrade to blu.

he agrees with me about Sucker Punch.

Alexcremers is shaking his head in disgust once more.

Not really, I've found out a long time ago that Joey is not a cinephile. To him movies are brainless hollywood entertainment and anything that deviates from that is garbage. To me Joey is the ultimate Tomatometer.

he agrees with me about Sucker Punch.

I'm sure you like it more than I do. ;)

I've watched far more movies than you. you're the idiot that bases his choices on the scores at Rotten tomatoes. it's your imbilical cord. my taste in films exceeds you're by miles.

oh look at the admin being a grammar and spelling nazi, and people wonder why we miss Marc and Neil. thank God you've never made a typing error before, I'm sure you proof everything you do.

Alex spells TinTin correct as well I'm sure.

I don't think anybody wonders that. Everybody loved Marc and Mark and Neil and was sad when they left. Was anybody happy that they left? I doubt it

Posted

cleary you miss the point. Or maybe I didn't spell what I was trying to say correctly.

either way I'm not in line with those who think Watchmen is a great film.

I enjoyed it in the theater, can't wait to see the Director's Cut someday.

I enjoyed the theatrical cut of Sucker Punch too, really need to see the DC sometime since it significantly changes the story

Haven't seen DOTD or 300 since the theater, I suppose I should check them out again sometime. I enjoyed them at the time but dunno if they will hold up.

Never saw the owl movie

I never saw the owl movie, I saw 300 on dvd, managed not to completely nod off. It has a beautiful color pallet but if I never see sweat flying in slow motion again it will be too soon.

dawn of the dead has some redeeming qualities, I like Mekhi Phifer, he's a solid character actor that never fails to deliver. too bad it wasn't as gory as the original.

sucker punch is awful, but it has a visual style and some of the retro looks work.

I can't say anything good about Watchmen. It was a blind purchase gone wrong.

I liked 300 when I saw it in the theater with all my friends when we were in our late 20's. I have a feeling it won't hold up if I see it again

The only scene I really remember from Dawn of the Dead is the scene where they are on the roof shooting at zombies while Richard Cheese's lounge version of Down With The Sickness plays. The original Romero film is awesome, I have a nice 4disc box set for it

Jason in 1978 I saw Dawn of the Dead in it's original release. At that point movie goers had seen a modicum or gore but nothing like the excesses in that film. I remember thinking I was going to puke when the zombie took a bite out of the black chick's neck. It was wonderful and horrible at the same time. it was an epiphany that we really are just meat. My older cousins had come with us and they left the theatre to go see some comedy, the gore was too much. My little sister and I loved it even though it was almost too much for our gag reflex.

Posted

You have a gag reflex?

we're talking 34 years ago.

I don't remember if I saw it before or after the remake but I just totally loved it, didn't even feel dated to me it was just a well made super entertaining movie

I wonder if they will re-release 300 when the sequel comes out.

Hey, if the ladies (and a few lads) want another two hours of well-oiled hunks fighting in codpieces, then by job, that's what the studios will give them.

We need Chaac, Incanus, and gykgyver to debate whether it constitutes a sequel, prequel, or sidequel, though.

Posted

it's a sequel to 300 and a prequel to Dawn of the Dead

300 zombies. the zombies will run fast, but in slow motion. and those pecks, and six packs, wow.

Joey and I are in complete agreement about Snyder, oddly enough. Worst director working today.

Worst?

Cheap hyperbole. Obviously not the case.

Really, Syder is worst than Bret Ratner? Paul WS Anderson? The "Movie" guys?

agreed, AVP is a guilty pleasure and Event Horizon has some great moments.

so does the ship.

No, that credit belongs to the duo Friedberg & Seltzer. Compared to this two Snyder is Spielberg.

Uwe Boll is probably the worst filmmaker of all time. Paul WS Anderson and him are below the respect of being called directors. Zack Snyder has continually got high-budget support from studios, and has done horrendous wonders with that money. No one ever gave Dr. Boll a dime, he produces all his own shit.

Whoever is responsible of that, please retire, or get yourself better ideas.

Chaac, any film with Eva Green in it is worth paying attention to in my book.

Event Horizon has a really tense, creepy atmosphere and some good performances (Sam Neil is creepier then ever). Great production design.

It falls apart in the end though.

The direction and script are what ultimately make Event Horizon sink. Too bad indeed, because the ship is a true vintage jewel!

However, the early CGI is a joke.

The image quality of the DVD is a joke too.

I actually like the revamped version of Superman. It still looks like a Superman outfit, as opposed the Spider-Man reboot. Now that looked like a red and blue basketball.

Posted

i think the spiderman reboot had a better suit than the other films...

Anyway... both looked more like spiderman suit from the comics than a superman colors painted chainmail... :P

Guard your original Superman movie DVD with your life. The reboot crew will be sneaking into your house and raping your childhood any day now.
