TheTennisBallKid 27 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Alex North's opening to 2001:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgiXNUNmnm8...related&search=ttbk
hornist 1,261 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 That's great. 2001 never worked for me because of the use of those classical pieces. There is too strong association to other images in my head with the R.& J. Strauss etc. music.Only the Ligeti stuff worked for me.Other overrated scene is the Ride of the Walkyries in Apocalypse.Now. Bland.
robthehand 3 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Alex North's opening to 2001:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgiXNUNmnm8...related&search=ttbkWith all due respect to Alex North, I don't think that works at all. It's nice music, but completely wrong for the film IMO.
Romão 2,473 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Try to watch that clip with the original sound off and play the the Planet Kryton at the same time.
robthehand 3 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Wow - it syncs up perfectly! I'll try and upload a version to YouTube, if I can figure out how.
Romão 2,473 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Not only it syncs up perfectly, it works quite well too.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 With all due respect to Alex North, I don't think that works at all. It's nice music, but completely wrong for the film IMO.It's far to busy and fanfaric for that opening, and it doesn't build as well to it's climax as the Strauss piece does.Nice music, but it sounds like a 1950's film with Gladiators.
TheTennisBallKid 27 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Nice music, but it sounds like a 1950's film with Gladiators.Strauss: And I looked at the film, and it was -- I don't even know how to describe how atrocious the music was.It was like a 1950's Hercules movie. And it wasn't because Alex's not a gifted writer, it's because he just doesn't have any knowledge of writing film scores. Real film scores like that. And it was like -- It was so corny. It was unbelievable. ttbk
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Oh great, My musical taste is the same of that of a Nazi symphatiser!

ymenard 68 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 nice edit I always hate when a soundtrack is cued with the main titles, for me it's like breaking the fourth wall. Credits on screen are "over" the image for me, not part of it... except for a few
GoodMusician 66 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 I just finished this.It replaces "Ludlows Demise" to the ending of The Lost World: Jurassic Park. In the film, they use the alternate version of 'Theme from The Lost World' instead and not right away. This replaces it as it had been. I also replace the opening of "Finale" which was tracked out for about 20 seconds.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzyWGf93l6k

Red 75 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 LOL . That LotR video was hilarious!"We don't need a script."
Ollie 1,375 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 The actor interviews where the best, especially Hayden.I don't like fan made videos...I find them stupid and unrealistic. Probably better off asking the real George Lucas how he would make LOTR...but probably won't be any differents.Yes it would be so much funnier. The film was made as joke.
hornist 1,261 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 The actor interviews where the best, especially Hayden. This Hayden guy must be one of the most hated in business.George too.People go to a lot of trouble to make these videos. But ... why?
Quintus 6,496 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Coz they're freakin funny for the most part.
hornist 1,261 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Oh, I must have missed those parts because of my poor english...btw ,that last star wars spoof(vader calling senator palpatine),that's what I call funny.

hornist 1,261 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 That "compositon" is much better than most of the modern music , I have had to play...
Marian Schedenig 11,694 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Bah. This is a musically gifted cat:
robthehand 3 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Bah. This is a musically gifted cat:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrY1GZNOGT4 LOL LOL But who needs a singing cat when you can have.... !
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Another Youtube link dumping thread, which has nothing to do with John Williams of film music?
Goldsmithfan 6 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 check this out. sounds like close encounters   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orLpZxEd24YThat is hysterical simply because of the fact that the cat is oblivious to the fact that his movements on the keyboard change the sounds around him. So goofy. I tried to get my cat to do something similar to that when we first got him. I tossed his toy across the keyboard and he ran across. I could never get him to just sit there like the aforementioned feline. Wow, I'm pathetic. And I don't care.I also liked the ominous music before he jumped. A genius of a cat.
Ollie 1,375 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Bah. This is a musically gifted cat:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrY1GZNOGT4When are we going to hear something from Jerry?
Marian Schedenig 11,694 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I think Jerry left the musical side of things to his namesake.Another Youtube link dumping thread, which has nothing to do with John Williams of film music? You obviously didn't bother to follow my link.
