#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted September 16, 2012 Author Posted September 16, 2012 I've had that in Ubeda I think. Tasty
Jay 46,241 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Looks like tomatoes with an egg on top?
Brónach 1,330 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Looks like tomatoes with an egg on top? It's similar to ratatouille. The egg is optional, and I had never thought on that until I looked up the picture in Google.
Jay 46,241 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I've never had ratatouille, I should rectify that
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Is it made from real rats.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 oh my goodness, just tried the new Campbell's Chipotle chicken & corn chowder soup. delicious. with a bit of a kick.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 whole grain spaghetti......puke.I am all for whole grain stuff, but as pasta; i just can't eat it.If people have a bad conscience about eating bad carbs with pasta, then they shouldn't eat it at all. Pasta needs to be exactly what it always was.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I'm fine with whole grain breads but I've not found an edible whole grain pasta yet.I've heard the new ones are good but I just got some earlier this year on sale and aarrrggghhhh.Semolina has worked for thousands of years, it's tried and true.Besides when they say you gotta get used to something, like whole grain pasta, or diet soda then it's not worth it to begin with.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Diet soda isn't all that healthy anyway. It fuels appetite for sweet.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 it's just gross. Luckily my two favorite drinks are water and Pepsi. I try to drink 6 to 9 liters of water a day.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Diet sodas are worse for you because of the aspartame. I've pretty much quit soda altogether though so I don't have to worry about it. I drink water throughout the week, and then I partake in social drinking on the weekends. Some whole grain pasta doesn't taste very good, but what I had the other night was fine.
Luke Skywalker 2,383 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 it's just gross. Luckily my two favorite drinks are water and Pepsi. I try to drink 6 to 9 liters of water a day.OMFG!Joey using the metric system! The prophecy was true, the end of he world will occur this year....
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Aspartame does nothing horrible to you. It's two essential amino acids linked together by a peptide bond. Once broken down it breaks down into the two essential amino acids (which your body uses up) and methanol (an alcohol), the latter of which it has less of than some fruits.

Wojo 2,458 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 3.8 liters = 1 gallonIt's printed on the top of many urinals.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 I try to drink 6 to 9 liters of water a day.Non sequitur, your facts are uncoordinated!
Ren 77 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I don't do soda. I don't really drink either. Though I used to be able to throw back martinis with the best of them. As for pasta people need to understand a portion. People in Italy don't eat huge platefuls
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 They eat average platefuls though
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 3.8 liters = 1 gallonIt's printed on the top of many urinals.I'm not that tall.

Wojo 2,458 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Eh, Joey, I just remember that one liter and one quart are roughly the same volume. A liter is slightly larger, but the difference is negligible.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Eh, Joey, I just remember that one liter and one quart are roughly the same volume. A liter is slightly larger, but the difference is negligible.wojo, I have a 3 liter bottle of water at work, I have an identical bottle at home. It's easy to remember. I drink the one at work everyday, the one at home everyday and possibly more. It really helps that we have good tasting water here. So many places don't.As for important stuff like cooking and driving I do not have to use the metric system.as a rule I'm not the biggest eater of pasta, it's there for the sauce nothing more. the older I get the less I care for it. I don't care if I ever eat lasagna again.
Wojo 2,458 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Ok, so you drink two to three of those per day. That's good. Healthy even. Flush the bad things out by spending half your day peeing.I just think it'd be weird to describe my car's engine as being 3.487 quarts.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I don't pee that much, but when I do it's for a minute or so.
Wojo 2,458 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 So, who's hungry now?I think I'm going to figure out how to cook sauce tonight, and make myself some pasta.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 we're tacos and cheese dip. I don't have to cook which also means I don't have to do dishes. Yeah.

Once broken down it breaks down into the two essential amino acids (which your body uses up) and methanol (an alcohol), the latter of which it has less of than some fruits.Aspartame is under suspicion to cause many things. Most certainly it encourages hunger attacks and it stresses the pancreas, leading to diminished digestion, hightened danger of getting diabetes and lowered defends mechanism against cancer, in which the pancreas plays a major role. Not to mention that could be found on the list of chemical warfare 30 years ago.Not to mention that Pepsi uses feral kidney cells to create flavour enhancers. Not particulary appetizing.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 we're doing a Thanksgiving inspired supper.I got a small turkey breast. I made some cornbread the other day and tonight I'll make cornbread dressing. we'll have whipped (mashed) potatoes, green beans, creamstyle corn, fried okra, gravy and I have some yeast rolls rising right now and will be ready to go in a few hours. no desserts, we wouldn't have room anyways.

Koray Savas 2,260 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 According to Wikipedia it's the most tested additive the FDA has ever approved, and that it's absolutely safe. I must have been remembering some old health scare that the news loves to report every weeknight.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Yeah, because it breaks down into two amino acids your body requires to function and a weak alcohol you get more of eating an Apple.IT WILL KILL YOU.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Ok, tonight, we eat at Joe's.there is a ton of leftovers.

JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I did make an easy dessert. I made rice crispy treats except I used lucky charms.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Yeah, because it breaks down into two amino acids your body requires to function and a weak alcohol you get more of eating an Apple.IT WILL KILL YOU.I don't think diet soda is the ideal source for a couple amino acids. Aspartame itself may not be harmful, but soda is still bad for you.
nightscape94 968 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I started up my work out routine on Monday. For dinner, Chicken with garlic and roasted bell pepper, brown rice, and peas/mushrooms for my vegetables. No salt, no butter. A little cooking oil for the chicken. Not the most flavorful dinner in the world.

JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I thought the number one reason for death was dying.I need some good chinese food. or maybe this weekend I can drive to Memphis and go eat at Abuelo's for some expensive but delicious texmex.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I don't think diet soda is the ideal source for a couple amino acids. Aspartame itself may not be harmful, but soda is still bad for you. Dubious at best, the scientifically proven worst harmful effect of soda is from sugary drinks, where the sugar is then metabolized into acids by bacteria and turns your teeth into swiss cheese. A lot of bad rap for sodas is sensationalization that goes like this. CNN headline "THE SALT IN YOUR FOOD KILLS LAB MICE IN DROVES." "Scientists have discovered salt, a common household product, in your home right now, used in your food, can kill mice in laboratories. Scientists injected 50 kilograms of salt into a mouse and it died." Then you have 3,000 outlets talking about how salt is a killer. Nevermind that nothing you could eat would have 50 kilos of salt. Nevermind that how the hell do you even fit 50 kilos of salt in a mouse?Basically the point is, nothing in moderation is harmful. Now moderation is a relative term, and varies from substance to substance. But everything in excess quantities is harmful. Water, air, sex, John Williams, etc. On the list of things that will kill you, a bottle of diet coke a day is probably not very high.
Wojo 2,458 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Right. Studies show that lab mice who listened to nothing but John Williams for a week died a painful death. What the report doesn't tell you is that the lab mice were deprived of food, water, had their orifices plugged, and were subjected to random electro-shock therapy.Nope. Cause of death, John Williams.
Brónach 1,330 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 It doesn't seem to me that such an amount of sugars is heatlhy.

A soda everyday though is just a poor way to intake unnecessary calories and sugar that are present in more delicious foods.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 gotta say guys the chicken wings were awesome last night.there were 52 individual pieces, they were on the small side mind you. I fixed half of them by korean frying method, they were ultra crisp and delicious. The others I baked and they were sticky and to me amazing. Dave clearly liked the fried ones best and I liked the sticky ones. By the time I put up the left overs there were only 16 left. I made some bourbon beans and some french fries. I barely ate any of that. It was all about the wings.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Home made fish burger.Basically 2 buns, deep fried fish, assorted stir-fried veggies and ketchup, mayo and some aioli.
Wojo 2,458 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I've never seen broccoli on a sammich before, but it looks delicious.
