A24 5,156 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I really don't care whether Kent wears glasses or not. I only hope that Snyder will be able to affect me with his film.
A24 5,156 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Getting light in the head from those pics, alicebrallice?
Neimoidian 15 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Still no glasses.Come on, it 21st century. Clark is going to wear contact lenses this time.
Quintus 6,495 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Maybe he finally put two and two together and gave himself laser eye surgery. (they're slow on the uptake on that Krypton).
alicebrallice 134 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Getting light in the head from those pics, alicebrallice?I'll bent for Kent.
Wojo 2,458 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 C'mon, the glasses were only a cheap disguise for back in the day when comic book readers were simpletons and could buy into a demigod pretending to be a doofus with glasses, instead of a mask or different face in superhero form. They served no functional purpose, but if you take away the glasses, the only differences between the two men are hairstyle and swagger. Why would a man with X-ray vision need corrective lenses or surgery? And how would the Last Son of Krypton even get laser surgery? Earth lasers would bounce off his impervious eyeballs. Would he look into a mirror to begin the beam, then move faster than light into the chair at the precise angle so the laser beam would slice his eye properly, so he could then fold it over to complete the operation?Ack.
Trent B 354 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Why is everyone so anal about Clark Kent not wearing glasses in this movie? The pic with Clark holding the glasses to Lois, may have been Lois' glasses and not Clark's.I have to agree with Wojo that the glasses were a cheap disguise back in the day. I think the average person would be stupid not to put the two together if they personally knew Clark, especially when he suddenly disappears and Superman appears. Clark is Superman, Superman is Clark plain and simple. Even Lois would have been able to put the two and two together right away. All though grant in the original Superman films she didn't do it until Superman II, still...Hell I wear glasses all the time and when I take mine off I still look like the same person, even if I had my hair slightly different. I also hope they don't really do any clumsiness for Clark in this movie. I mean if they do I hope it's not very much like in the original Superman films and Superman Returns.

Here's a realistic sketch for ya: Lois Lane: You know, Jimmy, why is Clark never around when Superman is here? And don't you think he sorta looks like him? Jimmy, I think our Clark is Superman!Jimmy Olson: I know what you are saying, bitch (hey, it's a contemporary version relating to modern audiences), but don't get excited too much. See, I know for a fact that he's not Superman.Lois Lane: Yeah right! And how come a photographer knows this and the number one journalist of the Daily Planet doesn't?!Jimmy Olson: Lois, Clark can't be Superman because .... he's wearing eye lenses! Why would a man with X-ray vision need corrective lenses or surgery? And how would the Last Son of Krypton even get laser surgery? Earth lasers would bounce off his impervious eyeballs.Lois Lane: You dirty little sneaky detective. Now kiss me!Jimmy Olson: Okay, Lois.Alex
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Still no glasses.Come on, it 21st century. Clark is going to wear contact lenses this time.cause no one wears glasses in the 21st century.
Wojo 2,458 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 While I live in this 21st century, I refuse to wear contact lenses. I don't mind glasses. I also have a rather nasty scar on my nose from when I ripped it off that the glasses help hide.Harry Potter lives in a magical world where people can commune to the dead and go back in time and fly on household cleaning appliances. Why does he need glasses, he's filthy rich from his parents' money until he invested in a startup, so why couldn't he get a magical operation?Jean-Luc Picard lives in a fantastic futuristic world with no money, no want, no disease, no greed, no suffering, no artistic advances beyond the 1980s, and extremely advanced science fiction. WHY IS HE BALD????The glasses aren't there to help Superman see. They're to make Clark Kent look normal or visually disabled which would through anyone off to suspecting him of being a demigod. He could just as easily wear a Groucho Marx mask or cross dress or cut off a cadaver's face and wear it like Hannibal Lecter, but there is something romantically simple about glasses.
Ollie 1,375 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Clark's going to part his hair on the other side when he's Superman. That will throw everyone off.Maybe they're going to go the Iron Man route where he makes himself known to the public.Zach Snyder does not give me a good feeling, Christopher Nolan being involved somewhat tempers that.

If he did then at least the movie followed that.
Quintus 6,495 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Clark's disguise is actually going to be strikingly post-modern, as Snyder's style demands. Clark will be a complete cunt.

Clarke will be a complete cunt.Apparently he will be if he adds that douchey silent E to the end of his name.I have never really been into comics but didn't Tony Stark also reveal himself to be Iron Man in the comics? If he did then at least the movie followed that.I don't think he revealed himself until the "Civil War" storyline, when he supported the legislation for all superheroes to divulge their identities and register with the government so they can be tracked, trained, and controlled. Until then, he only confessed his identity to Pepper, Happy, and Rhodey, but did admit that Iron Man was his bodyguard and mascot of his company. In the movie, Tony Stark's "rock and roll" personality makes his openness work just fine.
Quintus 6,495 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Spelling Nazi alert! Oh wait false alarm - it's just Wojo!Btw my phone adds the E.
Wojo 2,458 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I wasn't correcting your spelling, I was making a joke. I've learned that grammar and spelling mistakes should be poked fun at, not chastized mercilessly like, say, Tin Tin. That brings spelling Stalin out of the woodwork.I installed that SwiftType app and I can't get it to stop auto-correcting. I tried to type one word in a goddamn Google search, which happens to be a proper name, and it autocorrected it. I erased it and started over, and it corrected it again. I was about to throw my phone out the window.

Jay 46,242 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Swiftkey has a tough learning curve before you get used to it. Sadly for me, I was just getting the hang of it when my free trial ended, and I chose not to buy it
Quintus 6,495 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Tough learning curve? Didnt feel it myself. The only thing which irritates me about SwiftKey, as good as it is, is that it's still riddled with bugs.

Wojo 2,458 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Tough learning curve? I feel insulted at having to confirm that the word at left or right is the word I actually want, instead of the word it suggests for me and actually changes it to if I hit the spacebar. And it doesn't seem to "get" no matter how many times I erase the word and retype it that it is wrong.

And it doesn't seem to "get" no matter how many times I erase the word and retype it that it is wrong. That sounds like the autocorrect for the iPhone.Sometimes when I'm typing a particular word I'll have to tap the small x if it tries to change the word I'm typing. Sometimes it can be annoying.
Quintus 6,495 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Try typing "app store" on an iPhone without it automatically capitalising A and S. It's almost impossible, unless you cheat it
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I noticed that the seen in the Man of Steel trailer where Superman breaks the sound barrier with the wake behind him has already been done in Superman Returns,

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I was more entertained by Watchmen then I was even by The Avengers.

I don't quite understand your remark. It doesn't seem well thought out to me. What entertains person A doesn't have to entertain person B.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I was entertained by The Avengers, but forgot about it right after watching it. Watchmen usually lingers on in my mind for a day or two....
Quintus 6,495 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 The Avengers was hugely entertaining in a woohoo kids, here we are at Universal Studios, go wild! sort of way. Meanwhile Watchmen offered more thoughtful stimulation - best watched once the kids were out of the way.
A24 5,156 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I was entertained by The Avengers, but forgot about it right after watching it. Watchmen usually lingers on in my mind for a day or two....The same with me. I was entertained but only on a shallow level.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Sometimes that's all I require.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Watchman invites changing the channel to something more intelligent, more entertaining, something...even Honey Boo Boo.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Sorry, I'm siding with Alex here. It's the best Comic book movie ever.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 No that title stands with Superman the Movie(superior in everyway over Unwatchablemen), and then The Dark Knight.
