Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I've been thinking of doing that. I'll try and post about it as I go too.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I am not gonna do a re watch until the entire series finished I think. But looking forward to joining in in the discussion when season 4 actually broadcasts.
Jay 46,241 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 So did the results of that chart surprise anyone
Incanus 5,890 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Nah! Not very surprising. At least it wasn't for me.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Not really, Tyrion and Deanerys are the most popular characters anyway. It would be interesting to compare it to the first 2 seasons.
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Although it is slightly embarrassing for those who were edged out by the bear. Incanus 1
Incanus 5,890 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Although it is slightly embarrassing for those who were edged out by the bear. Well he has such a noble bearing no wonder he is featured more than the Iron Islanders or the blind maester.
Jay 46,241 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I was surprised to see so much screen time was given to the bastard Baratheon boy (the one that gets taken by the red-haired witch lady). I think his story was among the least memorable ones of Season 3 (though not the least liked, that will always be Theon's torture)
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Ah yes, Gendry. The problem is that didn't really go anywhere at all by season's end. He's taken, messed with, and then... leaves on a boat.At least it was satisfying for Theon to get what he had coming. Or rather lose.
Jay 46,241 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Yea, but everything that happened to Theon could have been summed up in one episode, not dragged across the season.I'm sure Gendry stuff will pay off in Season 4, it just was among the less compelling story lines of season 3.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Theon's story was both confusing and boring. I also dont find the character very interesting.
Jay 46,241 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 What was confusing about Theon's story?I think Theon's character very interesting, from his life as a hostage of the Starks to the leader of some Greyjoy armies to his utter defeat at keeping Winterfell. It was just his torture by Ramsay Snow after that that wasn't interesting.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Meh....Dickless child killer!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Well, i pretty much raced through series 3 in a day or so. I guess it Theons story became a bit of a jumbled mess.
Bilbo 4,294 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Out of interest, have you guys read the books?I think Theon's torture (which iirc was absent from the books) was to make the Bastard's reveal that much better. Interesting that you guys didn't enjoy it though.EDIT: He is tortured in the books but I don't think we hear about it first hand.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 No book spoilers please!
KK 3,313 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Out of interest, have you guys read the books?I think Theon's torture (which iirc was absent from the books) was to make the Bastard's reveal that much better. Interesting that you guys didn't enjoy it though.EDIT: He is tortured in the books but I don't think we hear about it first hand.It was handled differently in the book than the show. We don't actually see his torture. I really liked how they handled Theon's storyline in the book. It was much more effective to see Theon referred to as an entire character entirely, to the point where the reader cannot recognize him. But that would have been implausible for TV, and couldn't have been done that effectively anyway.Interesting that you guys didn't enjoy it though. That's because there isn't much to enjoy. It goes like this:Episode 01: Theon gets torturedEpisode 02: Theon gets torturedEpisode 03: Theon gets torturedEpisode 04: Fake escape with RamsayEpisode 05: Oh, no! It was a fake escape!Episode 06: Theon gets torturedEpisode 07: Theon gets torturedEpisode 08: Theon gets torturedEpisode 09: Theon gets his dick cut offEpisode 10: "Hey, by the way, I'm Ramsay Snow!". Theon gets tortured. It's not like that in the book. Bilbo 1

Theon gets tortured. Was it really that drawn out? I can barely remember. I'll see in my re-watch but yeah, I can see what you mean.OK, no book spoilers!
KK 3,313 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 But it's like that in the show!Yes, that's a pity.In the book, all of that torture has already happened by the time we're re-introduced to Theon, so we don't have to read pages of that stuff.
KK 3,313 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Yeah, that's one of the reasons why its implausible to expect it to have been done the way it was in the book
KK 3,313 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 No dick = No action = No sexposition = No Game of Thrones
Jay 46,241 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 South Park is doing a great Game of Thrones homage in their current storyline
Jay 46,241 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Haha, someone marked every page a character dies in the books http://instagram.com/p/g8X8aQPgKn/
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 More people die????
Bilbo 4,294 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I thought they were parts where Dany kicks up a fuss and does nothing of interest.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Well that was most of her in season 2.
Bilbo 4,294 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I loved the character on season 1. Season 2 she was a waste of screen time (WHERE.ARE.MY.DRAGONS.) They needlessly stretched out her storyline because she's popular. Season 3 was a bit better but it kind of tailed off again after Dracarys. The very last scene of the season was cringe-worthy as hell but Ramin Djawadi put some nice music to it.To be honest, more Tyrion!
Jay 46,241 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Was just in Best Buy, they are selling Game of Thrones seasons 1 and 2 on BLU RAY for $19.99 each!http://www.bestbuy.com/site/game-of-thrones-the-complete-first-season-7-discs-includes-digital-copy-blu-ray-dvd-blu-ray-disc/7344269.phttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/game-of-thrones-season-2-7-discs-blu-ray-dvd-includes-digital-copy-blu-ray-disc/7228175.p

Bilbo 4,294 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 They release it in perfect time for a rewatch before the new season!

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,384 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I guess print truly is dead!
Bilbo 4,294 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Print will never truly be gone as long as those who remain are loyal to it!
