BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 looks very good! I love rosemary.I had leftovers from yesterday when we made a cheese and spinach soufflé, a fish soup with e.g. golden beets, dill, saffron, curry, cream etc (it was, hands down, the best soup I've ever had)... and I made mint chocolate panna cotta with raspberries for dessert Ship one of those to me and I will seriously consider becoming a Snoozeman fan.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 You're just a lonely bum trying to get into Alice's pants under the guise of "shared interests". Snoozeman.P.S. Why are raspberries so ugly and hairy looking, yet, so damned delicious?

BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hmmm. I think that might be photoshopped.I touched up his background a little, there was a lot of digital noise. That's it.
Wojo 2,458 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Ah, I knew that's all it was. I can't stand digital noise. The White Album

BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Beef 'n barley stew. It's damn cold out. It should hit the spot.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 Leftover night
gkgyver 1,647 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Had the traditional St. Martin's day goose with the family last night.A whole goose, its liver, chestnuts, savoy cabbage, red cabbage, sauerkraut, potato dumplings, and sauteed cranberry apples.Oh, and lots of gravy.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 it's cold, I'm feeling lazy so it's bag salad and a turkey pot pie for Dave and a Chicken Corn Chowder pot pie for me.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Gravy is good! Had shoarma
gkgyver 1,647 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Carrot soup with homemade, succulent brownies.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Carrot soup with homemade, succulent brownies.Dave and I got a laugh at your post. Not to make fun of you but I showed him the post and he started laughing. I hate carrots and I hate it when carrots are in soup that makes no sense. I bitched to him one time that I ate some chicken/corn chowder because there was more carrots than corn. Now carrots in food is a joke between us. That's what I loved about my pot pie last night because there was no carrots.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Well, there was such a good amount of curry powder and ginger in it that the carrots were somewhat of an aftertaste.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 if I cook carrots they are loaded with brown sugar and butter.I do put then in a pot roast but I pick them out.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I generally don't like putting carrots in pot roasts, it makes the sauce to sweet for my taste. I use onions, some celery knoll and some celery stalks.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I always put onions which if time willing I will caramelize first, then I add carrots, 2 or 3, some potatoes, and a beef roast. I don't put them in with a pork roast. I still make mashed potatoes with a roast regardless if I roast potatoes with the meat. meat, gravy deserve mashed potatoes.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Going out to P.F. Changs.Dan Dan Noodles are pretty damn good there.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 we discovered a black folks BBQ restaurant restaurant in Jonesboro. They do a different bbq style than most places. They do a great set of ribs, and their beef brisket is different and delicious. Their bbq sauce is so good I could eat it by the spoon full and they keep coming by with homemade sweet rolls, they know how to fatten you up. And the owners sweet potato pie is fabulous. And I use that in the gayest sense of the word.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 we discovered a black folks BBQ restaurant restaurant in Jonesboro. What does a barbecued black person taste like? Never tasted one cooked...
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 you're gross. but just so you know there can be some major differences in bbq and catfish restaurants in the south especially in the predominately black neighborhoods. There can be quite a diversity in common foods right in your own back yard so to speak.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,387 Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 You are calling me gross?I remember some of your disgusting stories! As for "black people" cuisine, i'm probably more well versed then most here. Though Southern African cooking is very different from Southern US.
