Datameister 2,586 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 I very, very rarely experienced any physical bullying, but the fact that I was nerdy, academically enviable, and just a little self-righteous made me an easy target for namecalling and whatnot. As time passed, I got better at blending in, and my peers got better at not being jerks.

All though sometimes some people never do change. I haven't seen Johnny Gomez since high school, nor do I care to. All though part of me does wonder if he is still an ass hole like he was back in junior high.

Although a disturbing amount of kids at my school were sent to juvenile prison because of my squealing, I helped fill police quotas.

Thor 9,362 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I obviously had my bouts with a bully or two over the years (as does everyone!), but can't say that I was bullied on a regular basis, no. I was 'in' with most of the types in school -- the jocks, the freaks, the nerds, the averages and so on. I wasn't particularly big, physically, but I used humour, in particular, as a mechanism for social survival. If I was hanging out with the local jocks and tough guys, I toned down my school skills and all that, and if I hung out with the nerds, I used a little more 'out-there' behaviour. And for all groups, it was a matter of displaying a pronounced personality. It's all a matter of adaptation.But I didn't land a lot of girls, that's for sure. That came later.
