Wojo 2,458 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I never saw Battlefield, doubt I really will. I don't think that film would be able to stand up to a film like the Avengers.Don't waste your time. I only watched it a few times because I really enjoyed the book and wish it had gotten a better treatment than from someone too much on the inside like Travolta. It's terrible, and will be remembered as a cult movie simply because of how terrible it is.I was just mocking the original comment, because two movies can have similar messages but because of the inferior execution of one, be night and day in their presentation.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Battlefield Earth is one of the worst movies ever made. If I recall correctly, every shot is a Dutch angle. Makes no sense.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 every shot is a Dutch angle. Makes no sense.Don't blame us!

Makes no sense.the least of it's flawsI can imagine Vinny Barbarino laughing and saying can you believe we're getting paid to make this crap.
A24 5,155 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Latest trailer of The Avengers is looking good:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v28D3O304tQ&feature=player_embedded
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 A CD called Avengers Assemble has showed up on Amazon. I'm guessing it will be a song album.
Trent B 354 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I saw that trailer last night. Definitely looking forward to this film. I loved the bit at the very end after the logo when it showed Tony Stark in his suit and says, "Guys I'm bringing the party to you" and the rest of the team is like WTF???
Matt C 605 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Joss Whedon, who is doing the promo rounds for Cabin in the Woods this week in London, says that Alan Silvestri's score (which is being recorded at Abbey Road) "has blown my mind for the past several days."http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=87889
crocodile 9,724 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 If he allowed Silvestri to do a non-electronic score in a vein of his Captain America then I'm already happy.Karol
Matt C 605 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 If he allowed Silvestri to do a non-electronic score in a vein of his Captain America then I'm already happy.KarolI don't see why he wouldn't anyway. Joss likes going the orchestral route, all the way back to his showrunner days on Buffy. The only exception was Serenity, but that was because Joss wanted to veer away from the traditional space opera sound for the film.
KK 3,313 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Joss Whedon talks The Avengers. He also mentions a bit about Silvestris scoreThe score is very old-fashioned, which is why Alan was letter perfect for this movie because he can give you the heightened emotion, the [Hans] Zimmer school of ‘I’m just feeling a lot right now!’ but he can also be extraordinarily cue and character specific, which I love.
Matt C 605 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Whedon says it's old fashioned, but then he mentions Hans Zimmer-style "heightened emotion"?Uh oh... I'm not panicked, but I'm wary already.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I expect Wrath of the Titans to bomb.Avengers will be among the first summer hitsalmost time to start my 2012 Summer Boxoffice Thread.
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Samples!http://www.amazon.co.uk/Avengers-Assemble/dp/B007R7VHOM/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1333576351&sr=1-15Sounds quite promising
Matt C 605 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Indeed it does sound very good. I do hear bits and pieces of Silvestri's 'Captain America' theme throughout... nice to see a bit of continuity between the two movies musically.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Whedon says it's old fashioned, but then he mentions Hans Zimmer-style "heightened emotion"?Uh oh... I'm not panicked, but I'm wary already.Yeah, sounds like Navarrete's interview for Wrath Of The Titans: "We started with some beautiful orchestral music, and then we decided to screw it up with synths and loops. Loops are cool. Loops are cyclical, just as life. Life is cool, hence loops are cool".You made that up.Tell me you did. That isn't the man who wrote Pan's Labyrinth speaking.Samples sounding nice!
Matt C 605 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 "Assemble" and "The Avengers" sound like they could be the standout tracks in the film.Cannot wait.
Incanus 5,890 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 You wish! How did you want to balance out the score’s more classically orchestral / instrumentally ethnic possibilities with the modern musical demands of a blockbuster? It’s been a work in progress. The score started out more orchestral and classical and then became more loopy and programmed and “heavy” sounding.Yes Navarrete became more and more loopy as he went on with the scoring of Wrath of the Titans.
Matt C 605 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Looks like Disney is just issuing the score album as a download only option.Perhaps Intrada will get to do the CD release...
Incanus 5,890 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 This situation with these download only releases for even the biggest blockbuster movie soundtracks really sucks.
Maurizio 6,913 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 This situation with these download only releases for even the biggest blockbuster movie soundtracks really sucks.Better to get used to it, I'm afraid.
Jonesy 55 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I'm totally agree. But I think Giacchino doesn't like the unique digital releases.
Jay 46,241 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I'm sure every composer would love to see his work on a physical CD product. But it's not always up to them if it happens or not
Matt C 605 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I'm sure every composer would love to see his work on a physical CD product. But it's not always up to them if it happens or notMaybe if there's enough demand for a CD release after the movie opens... ah, who am I kidding? At least the score will be available in some form.
publicist 4,650 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Exactly. And honestly, the one or two tracks i get from current sores, ehm, scores like JOHN CARTER or AVENGERS, i usually get from amazon downloads, anyway.
crocodile 9,724 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I know now that it is mostly written in a style I wanted but still I can't a "hook" in there. Karol
lonzoe 19 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 It's amazing that Thor and CA:TFA got physical cds.
crocodile 9,724 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Well, if there is no physical release then what is this then? Different number and different release date...Karol
Luke Skywalker 2,383 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 navarrete? wrath of the titans?Wow...i wonder how the score sounds... wasnt the 1st film done by a zimmer clone?
gkgyver 1,647 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 navarrete? wrath of the titans?Wow...i wonder how the score sounds... wasnt the 1st film done by a zimmer clone? You're joking, right?People were talking about it months ago.
Luke Skywalker 2,383 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 i dont care for this film series... it must have slipped my notice...
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Well, if there is no physical release then what is this then? Different number and different release date...KarolYeah, that's been up for a few days, even before the MP3 previews hit. The US counterpart can't be too far behind.
Matt C 605 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Intrada will announce their two May 1st titles this week. They're not catalogue releases, but one is for "an upcoming feature film" and the other is for a "current, hit TV series."I would be shocked if that May 1st movie title wasn't Silvestri's The Avengers. The timing for it and Intrada's collaboration with Disney and Silvestri are pretty indicative. I don't think it's any other movie coming out in May.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I've come to think this film looks cool. If it's Whedony enough I'm sold. I'd like to go see it and be a kid thinking on superheroes for two hours. Please don't suck.
Xander Harris 9,674 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Why is the CD not just called The Avengers?
Matt C 605 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Why is the CD not just called The Avengers?Marvel has to make sure their movie is different than the failed 1998 film with Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes -- hence "Marvel's The Avengers" or "Marvel's Avengers Assemble."
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 People are going insane on Twitter about this film and mention the Hulk constantly.(My prediction is that Whedon is using the Hulk a bit as if he was River Tam in Serenity, which would explain it).
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 The Hulk still looks fake. I guess it will always look fake.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Lou Ferringo also looked fake.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Lou Ferringo also looked fake.no he looks pissed, the other night on Celebrity Apprentice he started having this facial tick and I could have sworn he turned a bit green. Course even the Hulk is no match for Lisa Lampanelli
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,385 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Lisa Lampanelli jokes??? Really???Is this the Comedy Central Roast?
